Amazon’s donation to the Alliance for Education, which is an organization that works closely with Seattle Public Schools, will create what the company calls a new “Right Now Needs Fund” to meet the urgent needs of individual students. The Alliance will administer the grant, designed to cover the current 2018-19 and the following 2019-20 school years.
Among the cases closed, 1,847 were for pollution, accounting for the sentences of 2,944 people. The other 17,027 were on damaging natural resources, resulting in 20,783 convictions.
Amazon’s response:?Amazon clapped back in a tweet, saying “we don’t use individual sellers’ data to launch private label products” and contending that “Walmart is much larger; Amazon is less than 4% of U.S. retail.”
Amid this promise, however, the rapid pace and significant scale of change resulting from ever smarter AI systems and increasingly pervasive human/machine interactions are also giving rise to markedly differing concerns among business leaders and consumers, said Wilson Chow, a leader on the technology, media and telecommunications of PwC.
Amazon’s Grandinetti testified that the company?initially fought the move by publishers to control pricing, before agreeing to it reluctantly.?“We wanted to avoid losing most or all of their titles,” he said on the stand, according to the Wall Street Journal. He testified that the terms of Apple’s agreements weren’t brought up by the publishers in their talks with Amazon.
