INDIANTOWN, Fla. — Heartbreaking new details are coming to light about the deadly shooting of a mother in front of her six children on Tuesday.According to Martin County, Florida, Sheriff William Snyder, Maribel Rosado Morales, 32, was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, Donald Williams, 27, inside a home.The sheriff said six children, ranging in age from 9 to 17, were inside the home at the time of the shooting."We think most of the children in the home saw it," Snyder said at a news conference on Tuesday.On Wednesday, WPTV spoke to Morales' fiancé and brother, both of who did not want to be identified. They confirmed that all six children are Morales' and she was keeping them home from school because of the COVID-19 pandemic."She was a strong person. She was a loving person," said Morales' brother.Morales' fiancé said he was on the phone with her when the shooting happened, and he could hear the children yelling that their mother had been shot.The fiancé said that after Morales was hit, she barricaded herself inside a closet for her safety and so her children wouldn't see."I was on the phone with her. I said, 'baby, call the police,'" Morales' fiancé said. "Why? She didn’t do nothing. Why? She didn’t deserve it. I wasn’t there to save her. I wasn’t there."Sheriff Snyder said at least one of the children was doing virtual learning during the first day of school in Martin County when the gunfire rang out."[The teacher] did hear some high tone conversation, noticed some kind of confrontation, muted it, and then watched the [child] put her hands up to her ears," Sheriff Snyder said.On Wednesday, Morales' family members said the child on the class call at the time is 9 years old and has Down syndrome.Williams was taken into custody not long after the shooting while trying to board a public transportation bus.“I have hatred. Yeah, I’m not going to lie, I want to do 1,000 things to him. But you know what? I forgive him, man. I forgive him and he’ll have his day," Morales' fiancé said. INDIANAPOLIS -- Administrators at the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School say an instructional assistant was fired Tuesday after she was found in possession of a handgun on campus.Police were called to the school at 3960 Meadows Drive around 9 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a staff member with a handgun.Officers arrived and took 31-year-old Dominique Squires into custody on preliminary charges of carrying a handgun without a license.According to school administrators, Squires was employed as an instructional assistant at the facility. Tindley administrators said all proper procedures were followed and no students were in danger at any point during the incident.Administrators also said Squires’ employment with Tindley was terminated immediately for violating school policy.As of Wednesday afternoon, Squires had been released without bond. The case was awaiting a formal charging decision by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.A call to Squires seeking comment Wednesday was not immediately returned.  1025

Most theme parks that were able to reopen did so with guests' safety in mind."This fall is a unique time for us as families are dealing with coming out of the pandemic and what can they do, and certainly it's not over. Everybody is still very concerned about health and safety and looking to the attractions industry is a great place," said Susan Storey, the Global Communications Director for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA).Storey says most theme parks across the country are mandating masks and not allowing as many people into the parks."They’re very good at managing how many people can be in a line, to how many people would be in a restaurant," Storey said. "We’re experts at moving people around and being able to provide a safe, healthy, fun experience."Storey says most theme parks are outside on large properties, giving people the ability to spread out."Technology has come into play, too. You can buy your tickets online and show them with your phone. You can do mobile ordering with food, so you’re not standing in line. You can just order, go and pick it up," Storey said. "So, there’s a lot of things that the industry has immediately implemented and added to take their already safe and fun environment."Six Flags over Georgia has fully decorated for Halloween, hoping to encourage families to visit "HalloFest" this fall."Right now, we have reduced capacity, so we are operating at a far lower level at the park than you’d typically see, and that’s so we can ensure social distancing," said Divina Mims, the Communications Manager at Six Flags over Georgia and Whitewater.Six Flags is also conducting daily temperature checks on employees and guests and conducting contactless bag checks.
