On Wednesday, the first rounds of larvicide will be dropped on 48 rivers, streams ponds and waterways. In previous years, crews sprayed neighborhoods by hand to fight mosquito-borne illnesses like Zika and West Nile viruses. This year, the County will use a helicopter to drop the batches or solid, granular larvicide on the waterways that cannot be treated by hand.The drops will take place about once each month of mosquito season (April to October). Mosquito larvae that ingest the larvicide will be killed, but the larvicide is not harmful to people or pets. The list of waterways equals just over 1,000 acres from Chula Vista to Fallbrook and from Oceanside to Lakeside, according to the County News Center. Protect yourself from mosquitos 864

(WXYZ) — A dramatic deer rescue caught on video shows officers in Michigan save a buck trapped in a net.Officers Thomas Goodrose and Justin Wells came face-to-face with a 10-point buck trapped in the net of a soccer goal at Bingham Farms Elementary on Monday morning.Noticing how panicked the deer was, the quick-thinking officers used a tool from their vehicle to help control the deer's legs while cutting netting that had started to close around the animal's neck. “Once he had it secure, we came up slow. Held the horn and heard it breathe and relax,” said Officer Thomas Goodrose with Franklin police. “It felt really good. You don’t come across this too much but it was really cool.”In the video, you can see the deer realize the netting is no longer attached, and run back into the wilderness. A "major explosion" was reported Sunday night by the BBC in the English town of Leicester, causing damage to a convenience store and killing at least four people. Four other people remain in the hospital, and one of those four had serious injuries, according to the BBC.
