(KGTV) - A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch from Florida Wednesday afternoon with a planet-searching satellite on board for NASA.The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) is part of a mission to find exoplanets that periodically block part of the light from their host stars, events called transits, NASA said.TESS will survey the nearest and brightest stars for two years to search for transiting exoplanets, according to scientists. NASA’s satellite will look for stars 30 to 100 times brighter than those observed by the Kepler satellite launched in 2009.TESS also will scan a larger area than Kepler, NASA officials said. It will spend about a month at a time focusing on one portion of sky, eventually covering the entire sky. TESS was designed to be stable in order to focus its cameras on the stars it will monitor.The launch had been scheduled for Monday in Cape Canaveral but it was postponed for additional systems analysis. 951

(KGTV) — An elderly driver led Los Angeles-area officers on a slow-speed pursuit on the 101 Freeway Wednesday, before being taken into custody.The driver began the pursuit with California Highway Patrol officers just after 1 p.m. in the San Gabriel Valley area, according ABC-affiliate KABC. CHP officers tried to pull the driver's SUV over for a carpool violation but the vehicle continued down the freeway, KABC reported.Officers followed the driver at normal highway speeds through Glendale and into the San Fernando Valley, before officers pulled in front of the driver's SUV and slowed the vehicle down.As officers approached the vehicle, the driver was cooperative and stepped out of the vehicle without incident.The driver, who appeared to be an elderly man, seemed disoriented as officers took him into custody, KABC reported. 842

(KGTV) — Even with the opening of "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" this summer, Disneyland reported a drop in attendance last quarter.Disney reported the data during an investor's call this week, noting that domestic parks saw a 3% drop in attendance in its third fiscal quarter ending on June 29. However, per-capita guest spending increased 10%, thanks in part to high ticket prices, and spending on food, beverage, and merchandise.Disney added that the lower attendance at Disneyland, specifically, was fueled by fewer annual passholder visits as the park managed the demand for "Galaxy's Edge." Iger added that local hotels also increased their prices around that time expecting more visits. Bush, reads: "Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro, and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear Dad has died. George H. W. Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for. The entire Bush family is deeply grateful for 41’s life and love, for the compassion of those who have cared and prayed for Dad, and for the condolences of our friends and fellow citizens."The elder Bush served as president from 1989 to 1993, overseeing the United States' efforts in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm.
