LOS ANGELES (AP) — Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost have tied the knot a year after engagement. Meals on Wheels America announced Thursday on Instagram that Johansson and Jost married over the weekend in an intimate ceremony. The post said the couple's wedding followed the COVID-19 safety precautions as "directed by the CDC." The organization added that the couple's wish was "to help make a difference for vulnerable older adults during this difficult time by supporting Meals on Wheels."The actress and "Saturday Night Live" star got engaged in 2019 after dating two years. Johansson, 34, was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds and journalist Romain Dauriac. She and Dauriac share a daughter named Rose, who was born in 2014. This is the first marriage for the 38-year-old Jost, who is the co-anchor of "SNL's" Weekend Update. 846

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Robert Forster, the handsome and omnipresent character actor who got a career resurgence and Oscar nomination for playing bail bondsman Max Cherry in "Jackie Brown," died Friday. He was 78.Publicist Kathie Berlin said Forster died of brain cancer following a brief illness. He was at home in Los Angeles, surrounded by family, including his four children and partner Denise Grayson.Condolences poured in Friday night on social media.Bryan Cranston called Forster a "lovely man and a consummate actor" in a tweet. The two met on the 1980 film "Alligator" and then worked together again on the television show "Breaking Bad" and its spinoff film, "El Camino," which launched Friday on Netflix."I never forgot how kind and generous he was to a young kid just starting out in Hollywood," Cranston wrote. His "Jackie Brown" co-star Samuel L. Jackson tweeted that Forster was "truly a class act/Actor!!"A native of Rochester, New York, Forster quite literally stumbled into acting when in college, intending to be a lawyer, he followed a fellow female student he was trying to talk to into an auditorium where "Bye Bye Birdie" auditions were being held. He would be cast in that show, that fellow student would become his wife with whom he had three daughters, and it would start him on a new trajectory as an actor.A fortuitous role in the 1965 Broadway production "Mrs. Dally Has a Lover" put him on the radar of Darryl Zanuck, who signed him to a studio contract. He would soon make his film debut in the 1967 John Huston film "Reflections in a Golden Eye," which starred Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor.Forster would go on to star in Haskell Wexler's documentary-style Chicago classic "Medium Cool" and the detective television series "Banyon." It was an early high point that he would later say was the beginning of a "27-year slump."He worked consistently throughout the 1970s and 1980s in mostly forgettable B-movies — ultimately appearing in over 100 films, many out of necessity."I had four kids, I took any job I could get," he said in an interview with the Chicago Tribune last year. "Every time it reached a lower level I thought I could tolerate, it dropped some more, and then some more. Near the end, I had no agent, no manager, no lawyer, no nothing. I was taking whatever fell through the cracks."It was Quentin Tarantino's 1997 film "Jackie Brown" that put him back on the map. Tarantino created the role of Max Cherry with Forster in mind — the actor had unsuccessfully auditioned for a part in "Reservoir Dogs," but the director promised not to forget him.In an interview with Fandor last year, Forster recalled that when presented with the script for "Jackie Brown," he told Tarantino, "I'm sure they're not going to let you hire me."Tarantino replied: "I hire anybody I want.""And that's when I realized I was going to get another shot at a career," Forster said. "He gave me a career back and the last 14 years have been fabulous."The performance opposite Pam Grier became one of the more heartwarming Hollywood comeback stories, earning him his first and only Academy Award nomination. He ultimately lost the golden statuette to Robin Williams, who won that year for "Good Will Hunting."After "Jackie Brown," he worked consistently and at a decidedly higher level than during the "slump," appearing in films like David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive," ''Me, Myself and Irene," ''The Descendants," ''Olympus Has Fallen," and "What They Had," and in television shows like "Breaking Bad" and the "Twin Peaks" revival. He said he loved trying out comedy as Tim Allen's father in "Last Man Standing."He'll also appear later this year in the Steven Spielberg-produced Apple+ series "Amazing Stories."Even in his down days, Forster always considered himself lucky."You learn to take whatever jobs there are and make the best you can out of whatever you've got. And anyone in any walk of life, if they can figure that out, has a lot better finish than those who cannot stand to take a picture that doesn't pay you as much or isn't as good as the last one," he told IndieWire in 2011. "Attitude is everything."Forster is survived by his four children, four grandchildren and Grayson, his partner of 16 years. 4241

LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - A man who Los Angeles Police say repeatedly punched two women during a fight with a street vendor is charged with misdemeanor battery, the LA City Attorney’s office said Wednesday. Arka Sangbaran Oroojian, 30, was caught on camera attacking the women in downtown Los Angeles Jan. 26, City Attorney Mike Feuer said. Investigators said Oroojian began arguing with a hot dog vendor at 6th and Spring Streets when two women came to the vendor’s defense. The fought escalated when Oroojian punched one woman, police said. The second woman tripped Oroojian and he fell to the ground, eventually getting to his feet and hitting both women, according to officers. As they rose, police said Oroojian punched them again and ran away. The women suffered injuries including a concussion, broken finger, and bruises. Oroojian turned himself in to Los Angeles Police and is facing five counts of battery. If convicted, he could face up to 30 months in jail and ,000 in fines.Attention Los Angeles — this guy brutally punched two women at a hotdog stand on Jan. 26 in the area of 6th & Spring. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The 16-year-old boy who fatally shot two fellow students and wounded three others last week at a Southern California high school used an unregistered, untraceable “ghost gun,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Thursday.Villanueva told media outlets that Nathaniel Berhow’s .45 caliber, 1911-model replica semi-automatic pistol was assembled from gun parts and did not have a serial number.Such weapons are a growing problem for law enforcement around the country because the parts are easy to obtain and the guns take limited expertise to build. In Southern California, federal authorities say one-third of all the firearms seized are ghost guns.California has among the strictest gun laws in the country, but they are based on traditional firearms that are made by manufacturers and labeled so ownership can be traced.RELATED: Santa Clarita high school shooting: 2 killed, 3 hurt; suspected shooter in 'grave' condition"Congress and state legislatures enact all these crimes about gun registration but now the gun industry is creating a way to just bypass the entire thing by creating a mechanism to manufacture weapons yourself," Villanueva said. It’s legal to purchase gun kits and assemble them at home. That method allows the purchaser, sometimes a minor or other person prohibited from owning firearms, to avoid background checks required to purchase ready-made guns from licensed dealers.Thomas Groneman, a detective sergeant with the Suffolk County Police Department in New York, said his agency built their own Glock-replica handgun from parts they ordered online as an experiment earlier this year.“It was ridiculously easy to do it,” he said. “It’s scary because anybody — convicted felons, people with psychological issues — can order it online.”RELATED: 'I'm scared': Students relive escape from Saugus High School shootingIn 2017, a Northern California gunman built his own rifles — despite a court order prohibiting him from having guns — and killed his wife and four others in a rampage. While hobbyists have long been able to use spare parts to create a firearm, modern technology has made it far easier to build a deadly weapon.Adam Winkler, a gun policy expert and professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, said that means more criminals will use them and it will be more difficult for police to solve crimes.“Anytime you can trace a gun, you have a little bit more information,” he said. “How did this gun get here? Who sold it, who was the gunmaker, who was the first person they sold it to and what happened?”Police don’t yet know where and when Berhow got the handgun he used to shoot students at Saugus High School in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita. As the school day was starting on Nov. 14, he pulled the gun from his backpack in an open-air quad and in 16 seconds shot five students at random, police said.RELATED: Santa Clarita school shooting victim named; Suspected gunman diesBerhow counted his rounds, saving the last bullet for himself, investigators said. He died from a head wound the next day.Anne Muehlberger, 15, and Dominic Blackwell, 14, were killed. The other three students were hospitalized and the last of them went home earlier this week.Berhow’s father was an avid hunter who died two years ago. He had six registered guns, but officials found several other unregistered firearms in the family home after the shooting and are working to determine their history. The sheriff said Berhow’s motive remains a mystery, even after investigators searched his home and interviewed 45 people. Berhow’s mother had no idea of her son’s plans, Villanueva said.Authorities said Berhow had shown no signs of violence and didn’t appear to be linked to any ideology or terrorist group. He ran cross country, was a Boy Scout and had a girlfriend. The sheriff’s department is working with federal authorities to unlock Berhow’s cellphone, Villanueva said. 3943

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) — Long Beach Police and transit officials are investigating whether a crime was committed this week when a man in a suit dragged an unconscious, partially naked man off a train, leaving him on the platform.[Warning: graphic video] Cell phone video shows the moments when the man dragged the other man off the train at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The man recording the video says the unconscious man had just suffered a seizure, Los Angeles ABC-affiliate KABC reported. The man in the suit then grabs the unconscious man's belongings and tosses them off the train and returns to his seat. The man recording the video argued with the man in the suit about what he had done. The two of them continued to argue for about five minutes before the man in the suit gets off the train to check on the unconscious man.Medics eventually arrive to help the unconscious man, who was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition is not yet clear.Police and train officials are now investigating if the man in the suit committed a crime by dragging the man off the train."Obviously, this is very disturbing and we never want to see this on our system. We're getting all the facts including reviewing the video from the train and the platform," Los Angeles Metro officials told KABC in part through a statement. 1329
