A business owner says his Poway office has been repeatedly burglarized by a thief who steals plants, among other things.The man snatched succulents and pilfered a large plumeria in his latest visit to the Poway business on Adrian Street near Midland Road on Wednesday around 11:30 p.m., according to owner Tom Belway.The grab-and-go gardener also disabled a surveillance camera and removed sensor lights, he said."This is the sixth or seventh time they have swept the property for any 'loose' items," Belway wrote on social media. "Previously they stole propane tanks, rocking chairs, construction materials and plants. One visit they had all of our outdoor furniture staged at the fence but they must have been interrupted."Down the street at the Park Church on Midland Road, pastor Andrew Henneforth said his church has been hit twice over the past two weeks.He said in the first incident, someone broke into a camper trailer and stole landscaping equipment and propane tanks.The second time, the thief hopped a fence and took a bicycle. There was a skateboard and drugs left behind, the pastor said."In this situation, am I a victim? Sure," Henneforth said. "But in some ways he's kind of a victim as well -- to addiction, to substance abuse."The church added security cameras after the second incident, he said.It's not clear if the two cases are related. POWAY, Calif., (KGTV) — Six days after the City of Poway issued a Boil Water Order, some restaurants are reopening, after getting special permits from the Health Department. On her first day back to work, a server at Mainstream Bar & Grill got the surprise of a lifetime when she received a ,000 tip from a regular customer. It's been a while since hungry customers walked into the Mainstream Bar & Grill. Six days after receiving Poway's food facility closure notice, Mainstream is one of a few restaurants that are reopened. Mandated by the Health Department, they now have a modified eight-item menu with ingredients not prepared on-site, a boiled water hand-washing station, and disposable cups and utensils. "Employees, we want them to get back to work as quickly as possible. Especially this time of year."It's a time when a lack of cash could be the difference between holiday cheer and holiday drear. "You really want to figure out what you want to do for the holiday or how you are going to spend your money, so that was scary."Klein, a six-year veteran server, was out of a job for five days. But Thursday morning, she was back on her feet. She greeted and served her regulars without a hitch. She even chatted with one of them about how the water outage was affecting her family. PORTLAND, Ore. — A peaceful protest morphed into an intense early morning confrontation between demonstrators and law enforcement in Oregon's largest city.U.S. agents fired what appeared to be tear gas, flash bangs and pepper balls early Monday to clear a mass of protesters outside the federal courthouse in Portland.Some protesters had climbed over the fence surrounding the courthouse. Others shot fireworks, banged on the fence and projected lights on the building.The city has seen nightly protests for about 60 straight days since the death of George Floyd.The Monday morning scene in Portland has become the norm in the city in recent days. Authorities declared a riot in the are of the courthouse on early Sunday morning as some protests breached a gate surrounding the building. The Associated Press reported that six people were arrested.Later on Sunday, Portland police say a person was shot at a park near where the protests take place. Two people were taken into custody in connection with the incident but later released. The person who was shot was later treated at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.Portland police also reported Sunday that a bag was found at the same park that contained loaded rifle magazines and Molotov cocktails. It's unclear if the items were related to the protests, and police say the items are not connected with Sunday's shootings.Though protests have continued for weeks in Portland, they've escalated in the past week since the arrival of federal agents. The agents were sent to Portland as part of a directive from President Donald Trump and Acting Sec. of Homeland Security Chad Wolf to prevent the defacement of monuments, statues and federal property.However, both Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler have said they do not welcome the presence of the agents and have asked the Trump administration to order their removal. (KGTV) - The Poway Unified School District sent parents an email over the weekend on their action plan after a water boil advisory was issued."My boys and I have had the discussion of the importance of safety," Mother and Senior Management Analyst of Poway Public Works Jessica Parks said of her twin high schoolers. "The rule of thumb is don't get the water in your mouth."The City of Poway issued a precautionary boil water advisory Saturday.The city says it believes the recent storm possibly compromised the potable drinking water system.As a precaution, the city is advising resident to boil tap water or use bottled water for drinking or cooking until further notice."I am really pleased with the Poway Unified School District for getting that message out there, speaking to all the parents and letting them know safety for their children is number one," Parks said.Poway Unified School District sent this email to parents: 951
