CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A golfer in Florida didn't exactly "play it as it lies," during a recent round, but he was able to get his ball back after it landed on the back of a large alligator.Kyle Downes of Cape Coral was golfing at Coral Oakes Golf Course when his ball ended up on the back of a large alligator that was sunning itself near a water hazard.While a friend recorded on his phone, Downes slowly approached the gator from behind and was able to snatch the ball before it slithered away into the water.Downes later shared the video of his encounter on Facebook and added that the animal wasn't harmed in any way.This story was originally published by WFTX in Fort Meyers, Florida. 693

CARMEL, Ind. — Hundreds of people from all different faiths gathered at a Carmel synagogue to show their love for the Jewish community after someone left hateful anti-Semitic graffiti on one of their buildings. The ground was burned and swastikas and iron crosses were painted on a shed and garbage bins at Congregation Shaarey Tefilla on Saturday. RELATED: Anti-Semitic graffiti found at Carmel synagogueRabbi Benjamin Sendrow says the graffiti may have been left to evoke fear, but as Monday night's gathering showed, it's had the opposite effect on their community. "(It) triggered an outpouring of love and support that wipes away their action better than bleach and fresh paint," Sendrow said. "All they have done is awaken the sleeping giant of love and acceptance and mutual respect."But in the midst of love, those hateful messages also serve as a reminder that Indiana is one of only five states that doesn't have a hate crime law — something Indiana Gov. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Cars and the coronavirus are two things that have not meshed well. It's creating what is now called a "COVID Car." "COVID cars are cars that have been sitting around for a long time and the batteries do not work," Bob Gugino, owner of Bison Automotive said. Gugino says he has seen a number of cars with similar issues with rotting brakes, dead batteries and severe neglect. "Every day people are working more and more from home so this is a consequence of that," Gugino said. These consequences of cars just sitting around are happening to vehicles of all ages. "All cars, whether new or old," Gugino said, "It affects the older ones a little bit more but every car, if it's not run, can have the battery die and the brakes rot out."The best way to make sure that does not happen? Drive your car around even if you don't plan on going anywhere. CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Celebrities are rallying around a 6-year-old boy who saved his 4-year-old sister from a gruesome dog attack this month, according to his family.Nikki Walker took to Instagram this week to tell the story of how her nephew, Bridger, stood between his sister and charging dog. Catastrophic wildfires continue to ravage California, as one blaze nearly doubled in size over the last three days, making it the largest in the state's history.No one has been injured in the Mendocino Complex Fire, which consists of two fires -- the Ranch Fire and the River Fire -- burning around Clear Lake, in several counties in Northern California.Combined, they form the biggest blaze that California firefighters are currently battling. Altogether, the Mendocino Complex Fire has burned 283,800 acres -- growing about 80% since Friday night. As of Monday evening, it was 30% contained and had destroyed 75 residences.The Mendocino Complex Fire has now surpassed last year's Thomas Fire, which burned 281,893 acres in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, as the largest fire in Cal Fire history. 819
