SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Prior to today's San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl, the Port of San Diego will host the annual Solar Turbines 5K run/walk and the Holiday Bowl Parade along Harbor Drive.The Port will host the 24th annual Solar Turbines 5K run and walk at 9:45 a.m. and the parade at 10 a.m. Participants in the 5K will run and walk from the corner of Harbor Drive and Ash Street to Ruocco Park. Had she gone to trial and been convicted of forgery and grand theft, she would have faced a potential three-year, eight-month prison sentence, according to the prosecution.Per the terms of her probation, Birchman will have to complete 15 public work service days and make ,000 in restitution to the PTA. If she pays the ,000, her forgery conviction will be reduced to a misdemeanor, according to prosecutors.Birchman, 30, was taken into custody in early January at her Temecula home on an arrest warrant issued in November. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego Humane Society announced Wednesday that it will offer refunds to San Diego residents who overpaid for certain services between July 2018 and last week. Humane Society officials recently determined that some residents paid fees that were higher than the amounts the city of San Diego adopted on July 1, 2018, for local animal services. The organization plans to contact and offer refunds to residents affected by the overcharging that occurred between July 1 last year and Nov. 19 of this year. The organization also offered discounted services to residents via promotions intended to increase animal adoptions and make it easier to adopt a pet. Residents who paid for animal services at discounted prices will not be contacted, according to the Humane Society. 800

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego Gas & Electric officials announced a campaign Wednesday to publicize job openings and recruit as many local candidates as possible to support the region's ongoing economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.SDG&E has continued hiring new employees amid the pandemic, not just to fill positions that have opened up due to attrition, but also because the company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 465 adopted a joint plan earlier this year for new multi-year hiring, training and apprenticeship programs.These programs are designed to help develop a highly specialized and skilled workforce to complete critical infrastructure projects needed to enhance wildfire safety, upgrade natural gas pipelines and expand the electrical vehicle charging infrastructure needed for zero emission transportation, officials said.The latest job openings are posted at sdge.com/careers.The recruitment awareness campaign will begin on Monday with the first of a series of chats with company recruiters on SDG&E's Instagram channel. Chats will occur through the end of the month, with each session featuring a human resources representative specializing in particular areas of recruitment. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The historic Hotel del Coronado is reopening Friday, ending the first closure in the hotel's 132-year history.The famous red-roofed hotel on Coronado Island's Orange Avenue closed with other hotels in late March as the COVID-19 pandemic reached San Diego.Hotels have started to reopen in June, following state and county public health guidelines. The Hotel del Coronado, a major tourist attraction, will reopen with limited amenities and reduced occupancy.Hotel del Coronado General Manager Harold Rapoza told 10News guests and hotel staff can expect to feel safe and comfortable after numerous modifications."We disinfect all the high-touch areas, including the light switches, remote control, door handles. We sanitize the entire room, and then we put a seal on the outside of the door so when guests do check in, they know that no one has accessed the room. They are the first person to access the room since it was cleaned and disinfected," Rapoza said.Rapoza added face coverings/masks will be required for all hotel staff and guests while in public areas. He also said there will be sanitation stands and cleaning wipes around the resort.Rapoza said as soon as they learned the hotel would be allowed to reopen, staff worked "fast and furious" to meet new health and safety guidelines."This is a very busy resort in the summer. There's a lot of foot traffic and we wanted to make sure we could manage through the guidelines. We want everyone to come and enjoy the Del and see the Del this summer. We're excited to show them our new amenities and our new protocols," he told 10News.The luxury villas the Beach Village at The Del will also open Friday. The hotel's main pool and Cabana guestrooms will remain closed until at least July 19 until upgrades are completed.Until the pool reopens, hotel management said guests will be able to borrow sand chairs for the beach and umbrellas for free.
