SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 30-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday night after police say he was stabbed outside a City Heights liquor store.According to police, the 30-year-old victim was standing outside the Qwik Korner Liquor store at 39th Street and University Avenue when a woman walked up to him.The woman, later identified as Irmalinda Gonzales, 37, then started swinging her arm, stabbing the victim in the left arm, police say.The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Gonzales was stopped about a block away and taken into custody. 574

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A brazen package theft — and attempt to stop it — was caught on surveillance video at a Pacific Beach home.Penny Ryan wasn't home when the scene on her porch unfolded, but it was all captured on her doorbell camera. A man walked up to the residence with a small green skateboard and bag before he lays down the board and walks up onto the porch. The man then begins stuffing his bag with packages left on the doorstep.But before he gets away, a concerned nearby resident comes across the man as he's leaving and tells him to put the bag down multiple times.MAP: Track crime in San Diego County neighborhoodsThe thief appears to be willing to put the bag down, telling the resident, "I'll put it down, sir. Sir, I'll put it down." But instead, the man runs away.Ryan said the incident highlights a rise in crime within Pacific Beach, and residents are worried. A look at CrimeMapping.com shows there have been about 30 thefts and burglaries in the Pacific Beach area in the past six months."It has escalated so much in the last 3 years that we are all quite worried about how bad it’s going to get," Ryan said. "This is not our first rodeo with brazen theft at our address."Ryan said she had submitted a police report and the video to San Diego Police Department. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Good Samaritan discovered a cat and her 11 kittens inside a downtown dumpster San Diego recently.The San Diego Humane Society said it's now caring for the cat and her kittens, which is a rare size for any litter.“A healthy litter this size is incredibly uncommon and certainly not something we see every day in the nursery,” said Jackie Noble, SDHS kitten nursery manager.RELATED: East County woman loses hundreds of dollars in pet scamThe Good Samaritan told SDHS it didn't appear the cat was dumped there and may have been using the dumpster as a safe place to hide and care for her kittens.SDHS said the animals are all in good health. The animals will remain there until the kittens are ready to be put up for adoption and the mother is spayed."As cute as the kittens are, a litter this large highlights the importance of spaying and neutering. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A ceremony was held Wednesday to honor San Diego County law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.87 names were read at noon at the memorial wall at the County Administration Building in downtown San Diego.The fallen law enforcement officers named date back to 1850, and they include San Diego police Officer Jonathan “JD” De Guzman, who was killed in the line of duty in 2016.“They did it because they loved it. They did it because they cared, and it’s just so important that those people, the survivors, know that the citizens appreciate what they did,” said Skip Murphy with the San Diego County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation.The public joined the memorial on the northwest lawn of the County Administration Building and quietly paid respects.The San Diego Police Department is also holding a memorial ceremony Thursday morning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 56-year-old reportedly stabbed his neighbor after the man tried to shoot him with what he believed to be a rifle late Friday night, police say.According to police, the incident happened on the 4400 block of Bermuda Avenue around 10:30 p.m. after a 56-year-old walked to his neighbor’s house to tell him there was water flowing into his yard.When the neighbor, a 50-year-old man, answered the door he was armed with what appeared to be a rifle but later turned out to be a BB gun. As the man shot the gun, his neighbor was able to bush the barrel of the weapon up to avoid being shot.As the man tried to reload, his neighbor pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed his neighbor several times “because he thought he was going to get shot,” police said.Both men returned to their homes and called police. The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It’s unclear if any arrests will be made in the case. 965
