LOGAN HEIGHTS (KGTV) - Police are investigating a stabbing in Logan Heights that left one man injured.The stabbing happened just before 6:20 p.m. Sunday in the 3000 block on National Avenue near 30th Street.Police say the man was stabbed in an alley at least two times, once in the leg and once in the face.The man was transported to UCSD with non-life threatening injuries.There were no witnesses to the stabbing.Police say they are currently looking at cameras in the area to identify a suspect.Residents in the area told 10News that crime has been increasing in their neighborhood. 592

In a recent series of court maneuvers, Spears has sought greater say over her life and affairs, which for 12 years have been under the control of a court conservatorship run mostly by her father, James Spears. Tuesday, a Los Angeles judge will hear arguments from Britney Spears' lawyer and possibly from the celebrity herself that her father should be removed in favor of a corporate finance company. LONDON (AP) — Lawyers representing the family of Peter Green, the dexterous blues guitarist who led the first incarnation of Fleetwood Mac in a career shortened by psychedelic drugs and mental illness, say he has died.The law firm, Swan Turton said he had died in his sleep this weekend at the age of 73. Green, to some listeners, was the best of the British blues guitarists of the 1960s.B.B. King once said Green “has the sweetest tone I ever heard. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Wealthy California political donor Ed Buck was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury for two overdose deaths in his West Hollywood apartment and charges he provided methamphetamine to three other men, one of whom survived two overdoses.The indictment returned in U.S. District Court charged Buck with distributing meth resulting in the deaths of Timothy Dean in January and Gemmel Moore in 2017. Buck had previously been charged in Moore’s death after his arrest last month.Buck, 65, who is white and has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democratic causes, preyed on vulnerable men, most of them black, some of them homeless and addicted to drugs, and pressured them to let him inject them with drugs as part of a sexual ritual, prosecutors said.A defense lawyer has previously said Buck, 65, denies a role in both deaths.In addition to including a charge for Dean’s death, the indictment adds charges that Buck provided meth to three other men, including one who said Buck threatened him with a power saw in December if he didn’t leave his apartment and another who overdosed twice in a week last month before escaping the home to get help.That last victim’s harrowing account led to Buck’s arrest _ more than two years after activists began staging rallies outside his rent-controlled apartment and pressuring the local district attorney to bring charges in the July 27, 2017 death of Moore, 26.Moore’s mother and her supporters have said Buck got favorable treatment because of his status and reputation and that the victims were ignored because they were gay black men, drug users and often sex workers. The activists had repeatedly warned that if Buck wasn’t stopped, others would die.Five months after Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey declined to bring charges in Moore’s death, Dean, 55, was found dead Jan. 7 on the floor of Buck’s living room _ the same place Moore died.The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reopened the case after Dean’s death. In July, the U.S. attorney’s office took the case after sheriff’s detectives approached a federal task force investigating opioid overdoses.Lacey, who is black, has said politics played no role in her decision not to prosecute Buck in the deaths of the two men. She defended her decision and said there was insufficient evidence to proceed with murder charges.The federal charges bring a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years if Buck is convicted. That penalty would be greater than the state drug charges he was arrested on, Lacey said.Buck ran unsuccessfully in 2007 for City Council in West Hollywood, which is known for its large LGBTQ community. LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — A helicopter crashed offshore near Jones Inlet Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.Officials said the pilot, a 64-year-old man, appeared to be attempting a controlled descent at Meadow Island at around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. The chopper landed in an area with about three feet of water.Rescue crews from the Coast Guard and several other local agencies responded. The pilot was rescued from the aircraft and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, including a facial laceration and back and rib pain. He was the only one on board.There was also some damage to the helicopter.Chief Petty Officer David Turner of the U.S. Coast Guard said he did not know the cause of the crash, nor did he know details of the flight plan.There was very thick fog in the area Wednesday, and while Turner did not know if it was a contributing factor to the landing, he said it's difficult to operate in those conditions.Visibility was only a half-mile in the area at the time of the incident with misty conditions in the area."I kept on hearing this helicopter, circling and circling, and after a couple of circles, it didn't sound right to me," said Damian Walsh the man who helped rescue the pilot and took video of the immediate aftermath.Walsh was out on his boat when he says a thick fog quickly rolled in around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon."It turned pretty quickly probably had about 20 yards of visibility," he said.He and another boater rushed to the scene after hearing a loud splash.One coast guard officer told Walsh that the pilot fell 1,000 feet in three seconds.The helicopter fell into shallow water."He was lucky; if he fell 50 yards over, he wouldn't have survived," Walsh said. "I got him on the boat; I called his wife, let her know he was alight."Walsh said he and a couple of other Good Samaritans got him over to rescuers."They wouldn't have found him in that fog.
