(KGTV and AP) - Two suspects are in custody in the United States in connection with the deaths of nine women and children in northern Mexico, relatives of the victims report. Bryan LeBaron said Thursday U.S. officials told the family that two suspects had been detained in the United States, but did not specify what role they had played in the Nov. 4 ambush attack. Earlier this week, prosecutors said more than 40 suspects have now been identified in connection with the killings of the extended Langford and LeBaron families who have lived in northern Mexico for decades. Three mothers and six children were killed; eight others were injured. The victims were dual citizens of Mexico and the United States, and part of a Mormon community of about 3,000 members living in Mexico. (KGTV) - A San Bernardino County woman is suing the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and state Natural Resources Agency for not acknowledging the existence of Bigfoot.Claudia Ackley told The Press-Enterprise she ran into the long-fabled creature while hiking in Lake Arrowhead last year. Ackely said she was hiking late one March day when she and her two daughters ran into a Sasquatch."I ran into a Sasquatch – a Bigfoot. We were face to face. He was 30 feet up in the tree," Akley told the paper. "He looked like a Neanderthal man with hair all over him. He had solid black eyes. He had no expression on his face at all. He did not show his teeth. (KGTV) -- A suspect in the freeway shooting death of a San Diego man was arrested following a standoff at a San Diego hotel, California Highway Patrol officials announced Monday.Vincent Dulay Deguzman Jr. faces charges in connection with the June 7 death of 47-year-old San Diego resident Jessie Garcia Sr., CHP officials said.According to the CHP, on June 7, Deguzman and Garcia were in a Kia Altima on southbound Interstate 5 in Irvine when Deguzman, who was behind the wheel, allegedly shot Garcia and then abandoned the rental car south of Culver Drive, where it was found on the shoulder with the body next to the vehicle at around 7:33 a.m.On June 11, CHP investigators identified Deguzman as the suspect in the case and obtained a warrant for his arrest.Investigators collaborated with the San Diego Fugitive Task Force and tracked Deguzman to a Hilton Garden Inn in San Diego.CHP officials said, “Deguzman barricaded himself inside a hotel room and a stand-of ensued.”Deguzman eventually surrendered without incident and was taken into custody.Deguzman was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder and being held without bail.CHP officials did not release any information on a possible motive in the case. 1234

(KGTV) — A Northern California judge has ruled against Gov. Gavin Newsom, saying he overstepped his authority when requiring all California registered voters receive a mail-in ballot for the 2020 election.Sutter County Judge Sarah Heckman said Friday that Gov. Newsom did not have the authority to amend or change the state's law through an executive order, which mandated all registered voters get a mail-in ballot and allowed counties to reduce the number of polling locations if in-person voting is offered ahead of Nov. 3, according to court documents.The ruling doesn't affect the results of the 2020 election.Newsom's executive order was made as part of the California Emergency Services Act, or CESA. The act gives the governor special powers during a public emergency.The ruling stemmed from a lawsuit by Assembly members James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) and Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin), who claimed Newsom didn't have the authority to make the order. California's legislature later passed a similar law to the order.Kiley posted the judge's ruling online, in which the judge wrote, "Executive Order N-67-20 issued by the Governor on June 3, 2020 is void as an unconstitutional exercise of legislative power and shall be of no further force or effect. The California Emergency Services Act (CA Government Code §8550 et seq.) does not authorize or empower the Governor of the State of California to amend statutory law or make new statutory law, which is exclusively legislative function not delegated to the Governor under the CESA."The judge's ruling also put an injunction in place against Newsom, prohibiting him from changing any laws under CESA, according to the documents. 1687
