WASHINGTON, D.C. – Even if President Donald Trump doesn’t concede, the nation’s major social media companies say control of the official White House accounts will be transferred to President-elect Joe Biden when he’s sworn in on Jan. 20.Throughout his presidency, Trump has relied heavily on websites like Twitter to disseminate information and announce major updates, more than any previous administration.In a statement obtained by Reuters and CBS News, a Twitter spokesperson said the company is actively preparing to support the transition of the “institutional” accounts on Inauguration Day. Those accounts include @POTUS, @FLOTUS, @VP, and @WhiteHouse.Existing tweets on these accounts will be archived and the accounts will be reset for the incoming administration, CBS News reports.The Trump administration regularly posts using these accounts, but the president himself largely uses @realDonaldTrump, which he created before being elected and will likely use after he’s left office.Reuters also obtained a statement from Facebook, in which the social media giant said it expected to work with Trump administration and the incoming Biden administration to make sure the transition of accounts is seamless on Jan. 20, as it did in 2017.Trump has still not conceded to Biden and he continues to combat the results of the election in court and online. Uber and Lyft are among those offering free rides.But it’s not just big companies doing a good deed on Election Day. One woman, Cheryl Fleming, is personally taking voters to the polls, calling it her civic duty.Despite the wet weather in Virginia today, Fleming is behind the wheel, volunteering her time to voters."Pickin’ up folks and taking them to the polls, insuring that they have no excuse," says Fleming.There’s a reason why Fleming is doing this. Over two decades ago, she had a felony conviction on her record and was stripped of her right to vote.But in 2016, that right was restored. She was 54 years old when she cast her first ballot. Now, she's making it her mission to get people to the polls.One of Fleming’s passengers on Election Day was 70-year-old Marine veteran Joseph Crouch, who has a similar story to Fleming’s.“When you're an ex-felon, you feel isolated and locked out,” says Crouch.Crouch’s voting rights were restored four years ago, but this is his very first election. WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — An 11-year-old boy died of the novel coronavirus on Thursday, the youngest confirmed fatality from COVID-19 in the state, according to local government officials.Previously the youngest victim from COVID-19 was a 16-year-old girl from Lee County.The boy's death came the same day that Florida hit a grim record in connection with the pandemic, as the state announced 10,109 new cases, on Thursday. The new cases on Thursday put the state total at 169,106.There were more than 52,000 new cases of the coronavirus recorded across the country on Thursday. About 25,000 of those cases occurred in Arizona, California, Florida and Texas.Dr. David Dodson of Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida, fears that numbers will only increase.Dodson described the increase in positive COVID-19 cases as exponential and added that 17 percent of all the hospitalizations in Florida right now are people under the age of 45.Dodson said the best preventative measures people can do is wear masks, avoid large crowds and stay at home when possible."Even though it's beautiful outside, and the sun is shining, we're in a hot zone. We're in a pandemic. This is a lethal pandemic, and how this goes depends on each of our behavior," Dodson said. "If you really clamp down and make everyone stay home, the virus really can't be transmitted, so then the cases go down after a couple of weeks.
