The House Rules Committee adopted guidelines Tuesday that spelled out how the vote went down. Under those rules, Democrats and Republicans had six hours to debate the impeachment articles. The time was split evenly between the two parties. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi opened the debate by accusing Trump of violating the Constitution and urging members to honor their oath of office. "It is tragic that the president's reckless actions make impeachment necessary,” said Pelosi. “He gives us no choice."The debate was controlled by Reps. Virtual reality could soon play a role in helping during childbirth. Some women are watching relaxing scenery and listening to soothing sounds during labor with VR goggles. It’s part of the research being done at Cedars-Sinai, a medical center in Los Angeles. The research is being done to see if VR can help ease pain as labor gets more intense. “What we did find was that women found it very helpful,” says Dr. Melissa Wong, who specializes in OB/GYN and maternal fetal medicine at Cedars-Sinai. “That women were describing it … one of my favorite descriptions of it was a woman (who) spoke about it as being like a virtual doula." That's some of the early feedback from women who took part in the study.Wong says there were some women who found the headset isolating because you can’t see others. But she thinks VR could be useful, whether someone is using pain medication or not. “I think it has the potential for the woman who wants to defer her epidural,” Wong says. “And then the other thing is, there are women who also don’t get complete relief from an epidural or who still feel significant anxiety even after an epidural.”The full results of the study will include the pain management scores and will be released in February 2020. 1255

A backpack holding an incendiary device and items that could be used for an abduction were beneath the car in which a retired administrator was found stabbed to death on the campus of California State University Fullerton, authorities said Monday.The victim was identified by Fullerton police as Steven Shek Keung Chan, 57, of Hacienda Heights. He'd retired from the school but worked at the international student affairs office as a consultant, officials said.His body was found with multiple stab wounds inside the vehicle in a campus parking lot, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene."Investigators now believe the victim was targeted based on their investigation," Fullerton police said in a statement.Police are looking for the attacker, who is described as a man in his mid-20s with black hair, wearing a black shirt and black pants.The backpack was left by Chan's assailant, said Fullerton police Lt. Jon Radus. The city's police force is leading the investigation. No motive was disclosed.The Orange County Sheriff's Department bomb squad found the backpack, Radus said.
