Russell Crowe is sharing mementos from his marriage -- for a price. The actor hosted a divorce-themed auction in Sydney on Saturday, which also happens to be his birthday and wedding anniversary. As part of the auction by Sotheby's Australia, Crowe parted with an eclectic mix of items and movie souvenirs collected during his nine-year marriage to Danielle Spencer. The couple called it quits in 2012.Items on sale included his leather jockstrap and midnight blue satin boxers, along with art, watches, diamond rings and a Mercedes Benz. The jockstrap sold for ,000, according to Sotheby's Australia. The auction, aptly titled "The Art of Divorce," featured a poster of a tuxedo-clad Crowe, holding a cocktail glass in a toast. It was streamed live on Facebook.Hundreds of items up for grabs had descriptions of their role in the Academy-winning actor's personal or movie life."One of Russell Crowe's personal cars, this vehicle also served as one of the wedding cars on the day of his marriage to Danielle Spencer on 7 April 2003," a note next to the Mercedes says. The movie paraphernalia included a replica Roman chariot from the "Gladiator" and a leather sketchbook used by Crowe's character in "3:10 to Yuma." Crowe donned the boxers and the jockstrap in the 2005 film, "Cinderella Man."Items on sale were not limited to movie or wedding mementos. They also included Rolex watches, landscape art, ice skates, cricket jerseys, motorcycles?and a whole lot more.Crowe tweeted that the auction raked in .7 million in five hours."A bunch of stuff I didn't really want to sell coming home ... not a bad hourly rate for a 5-hour shift," he tweeted.Crowe and Spencer have two children. 1701

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Californians will vote next year whether the state should issue billion in bonds for school construction and modernization projects.Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation Monday placing the bond on the March 2020 ballot. He says improving physical conditions in schools will improve students' educational experiences.Nine billion dollars will go to facilities serving students in pre-school through 12th grade. Two billion dollars each will go to the University of California system, the California State University system and community colleges.Local governments have to provide matching funds. But the state will provide a greater share of the money for districts with high percentages of low income, foster care and English learning students.Newsom says he's confident voters will approve the bonds. 838

Russian hackers are at it again. They’re already targeting this year’s midterm elections.“One, to try to infiltrate our election infrastructure, and second, to try to infiltrate our minds with misinformation,” says David Becker, executive director and founder of The Center for Election Innovation & Research, of the Russian meddling. In 2016, Russian hackers targeted voting systems in at least 21 states, according to Homeland Security officials. While no votes were changed, states are now trying to prepare for what could happen this year.“States are going to need the federal government to step up, because states can’t defend against a nation state as big as Russia,” says Becker.Congress approved 0 million in election security funding for states. Becker said the money will go toward things like new voting machines that are more secure, updating computer software to protect voter information and hiring and training staff on cyber threats. House and Senate Republicans blocked millions in additional funding to bolster election security efforts, saying it’s too soon to allocate additional money and want to see how states use the 0 million already given out. While state and local governments are working to protect our elections, Becker said voters can also do something to help out.“Register to vote; check your registration and then go vote – earlier by mail if possible,” Becker says. “If there has been some kind of incident, if the Russian’s have infiltrated a voter list for instance, we will discover that early thanks to people voting and when we discover it early we can fix it early and make sure it has no impact on the election.” 1690

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A judge has ordered rapper Kanye West's name to be removed from presidential ballots in Virginia. Richmond Circuit Court Judge Joi Taylor issued an order Thursday saying West was disqualified because he had failed to meet the requirement that 13 people in the state pledge support for his campaign. The West campaign submitted 13 such "Elector Oaths," but the judge declared 11 of them invalid. The judge added that some were obtained "by improper, fraudulent and/or misleading means." 514

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom eased the sentences or criminal histories of nearly three dozen current or former felons on Tuesday. They include 10 pardons intended to aid immigrants who face the possibility of deportation. One of the 10 is currently in a federal immigration detention facility. The 10 were among 22 pardons, 13 commutations and four medical reprieves, the last a category prompted by the coronavirus pandemic. The state corrections secretary and a federal court-appointed official recommended the medical risk clemency review. They are in addition to thousands of other earlier releases intended to free space within the state's prison system to slow the virus' spread. 715
