Cory Gardner, the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said Wednesday that Roy Moore, the Republican candidate for Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat, should drop out of the special election if the allegations he had a sexual relationship with a teen girl are true.The Washington Post broke the story Wednesday that in 1979, Moore—then a 32-year-old district attorney—had a sexual encounter with a girl who was 14 years old at the time.The Post reported that after meeting the girl one day, Moore picked her up days later, took her to a wooded area, kissed her, removed his clothes, and touched her inappropriately.Three other women told The Post Moore had pursued them while he was in his 30s and they were between 16 and 18 years old, though they said no sexual contact occurred.Moore denied the allegations, calling them “completely false” and a “desperate political attack” by the Democratic Party and Washington Post. DEL MAR (CNS) - Horse racing at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club has been canceled Thanksgiving Day due to stormy weather forecasts, racing officials announced Sunday. ``With inclement weather predicted to bring substantial rain on Wednesday and Thursday of the coming week, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club proactively canceled its scheduled Thanksgiving Day race card as part of its continuing emphasis on horse and rider safety,'' the club said on Twitter Sunday. Several of the races from Thursday's program, including the 0,000 Grade III Red Carpet Stakes, will be shifted to expanded race cards Saturday and next Sunday. The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club is hosting the season without people in the stands to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. The decision's impact will go beyond the Thoroughbred Club, which stands to lose million this year in ticket sales and concessions. "It's more than just a money making venture for us, because probably this year, we won't make any money," club CEO Joe Harper said. The club reports that it makes a 0 million economic impact to the region in a typical year. That includes 5,150 jobs and a boost to the area hotel occupancy rate from 70 percent to 87 percent. Additionally, area business, including restaurants in Del Mar and neighboring Solana Beach, are losing out on fans pre and post race. Last year, the track averaged 11,264 fans per day. DELAFIELD, Wis. — A suspect accused of shooting two police officers in Delafield early Friday has been taken into custody, police say.Police said they had not conclusively concluded the identity of the suspect, but he appeared to match the description of Nathanael Benton, 23.Earlier Friday, police said a suspect, identified as Benton, was still at large and considered armed and dangerous. Police say he is also wanted for an incident in North Dakota.Two officers were shot just after 1:30 a.m. Friday in Delafield, police said.Residents in Delafield were being asked to avoid the area of Highway 83 and Golf Road.Delafield police said two officers, one from Delafield police and the other from Hartland police, were responding to a call for service regarding a hit-and-run crash at the Holiday Inn Express and shots were exchanged between the suspect and the officers. The officers were injured.The injured officers were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.Fargo Police Department have been searching for Benton since Nov. 1 in relation to another incident. DENVER — Convicted murderer Chris Watts has been moved from a Colorado prison to another prison out of state.Four sources confirm to KMGH's Jace Larson that Chris Watts was transferred from the Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center, where a new prison inmate goes after conviction, to an undisclosed facility out of state. Victims’ families -- who requested to be alerted -- have been notified, two of the four sources with knowledge of the movement told KMGH. Watts' current location has not been identified, except to victims' families, the source said.Watts pleaded guilty last month to killing his pregnant wife Shanann Watts and their two young daughters at their home in Frederick, Colorado in August. He was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole.The Colorado Department of Corrections inmate locator shows Watts' location as the Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center, but this is no longer the case.The move occurred as part of an interstate compact where high-profile prisoners can be moved to another state’s system, or occasionally the federal prison system, for safety.
