PORT LOUIS, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- China has signed an economic and trade cooperation accord with Mauritius worth about 9 million U.S. dollars, including 6 million dollars grant and 3 million dollars interest-free loan.The accord was signed on Friday and the signing ceremony was attended by visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu and Mauritius Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Development Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.According to the accord, the grant and loan will fund projects agreed on by the two governments in the future.Hui and Jugnauth also agreed on boosting cooperation in science and culture and implementing the programs of the accord signed by the two sides.Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu (Central L) meets with Mauritius Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Development Pravind Kumar Jugnauth (Central R) in Port Louis, Mauritius, Jan. 7, 2011.Hui also met Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam in the capital of Port Louis on Friday when he started a three-day official visit to Mauritius.During the meeting, Hui commended the bilateral cooperation since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1972 and the promising trend to further strengthen the ties in cultural exchange, education and tourism.He thanked the Mauritius government for its support on issues concerning the core interests of China.Hui noted that the two countries should keep pushing for extensive cooperation and high level exchange of visits, continue to building political trust between the two governments and implement the measures in the framework of China-Africa Cooperation Forum.Ramgoolam also spoke highly of the fruitful cooperation between the two countries and thanked China for the assistance in improving the country's infrastructure including a new international airport which is under construction.Hui held talks with Mauritius opposition leader Paul Berenger on Saturday afternoon before he wraps up his visit to Mauritius, the first leg of his five-African country tour which will also take him to Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Senegal.

ADDIS ABABA, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union (AU) Ramtane Lamamra, and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Ethiopia Gu Xiaojie on Friday signed an agreement on the provision of aid to the AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).The grant amounting to 30 million RMB, (over 4 million U.S. dollars), will be used to supply equipment and materials for AMISOM. The signing of this agreement comes in the wake of the adoption by the United Nations Security Council, on Dec. 22, of resolution 1964(2010), in which it, inter alia, requested the Secretary- General to continue to provide a logistical support package for AMISOM, for a maximum troop strength of 12,000, as called for by resolution 1863 (2009).In resolution 1964(2010), the Security Council also called on UN Member States and regional and international organizations to make direct bilateral donations in support of AMISOM.By generously providing aid to AMISOM, the People's Republic of China is responding to the call made by the United Nations Security Council and the earlier appeal by the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) for AU partners to support the ongoing efforts in Somalia, AU said in a statement. Gu Xiaojie reiterated China's continued commitment to strengthen its cooperation with the AU in the area of peace and security and to support all endeavors in this regard. He lauded AU's efforts and resolve towards the promotion of peace, security and reconciliation in Somalia.Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Lamamra stated said that "China has, over the years, been providing multifaceted assistance to the AU and African countries as they strive to address the many challenges facing the continent. BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) has announced that it would publicize the affairs of grassroots Party organizations by the end of 2011, a further step in its effort to push forward intra-party democracy.The decision was made public on Tuesday by He Guoqiang, secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, during a national meeting in Beijing where he laid out a five-point plan on the publication of affairs of grassroots Party organizations.He said Party organizations at all levels should fully understand and implement a guiding document that was issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee in September.The document called openness in Party affairs the life of the Party and an essential part of the intra-Party democracy, and defined openness in Party affairs as "publication of content, procedures, results and other aspects of Party affairs within a certain scope."Publishing affairs of grassroots Party organizations was an important measure to expand democracy within the Party at the grassroots level, safeguard the democratic rights of Party members, strengthening intra-Party supervision, and regulating the use of power, the document said.He urged Party organizations at all levels to meticulously draw up implementation schemes to ensure that the policy of openness in Party affairs would begin in grassroots Party organizations, including those in enterprises, rural areas, government institutions and schools.He said grassroots Party organizations should willingly publicize its affairs, such as its resolutions, the implementation of these resolutions, and official appointments, in a timely manner except for those concerning classified information of the Party and the state.
