SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers over the weekend seized 314 pounds of narcotics and captured 14 fugitives.Officers intercepted 181 pounds of methamphetamine, 55 pounds of cocaine, 11 pounds of heroin, 31 pounds of fentanyl and 36 pounds of marijuana.RELATED: U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seize 1,800 pounds of drugs worth .2 millionIt total, officials say the drugs are worth more than .4 million. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While enjoying a moment at the park over the weekend, a Carlsbad family was on the receiving end of an act of kindness from a stranger. The family says they are now hoping to find that person to say thank you.After months of staying at home, the family was excited to spend a day at Buccaneer Park in Oceanside. Eleven-year-old Jacobi and 12-year-old Jordan couldn’t wait to get outside.“They’re too old of the playground area, the swings and things like that,” says mom Tamara Coronado. “They look forward to the open space, the grass area, and definitely the basketball courts.”But Coronado says park officials had not yet reinstalled the basketball hoops, something the boys were looking forward to. The kids were left to make up their own games. It caught the attention of one man.“Forty-five minutes to an hour later, he came back… with a crafting reef from Dollar Tree and a very small basketball that would fit inside.”The man used a power drill to attach the wreath to a tree to form a makeshift hoop so that the boys could play basketball.“All that he asked was that we leave the wreath and the ball in place so that after we left, other families could use it,” says Coronado. “But the fact that he went out of his way like he did was, I just couldn’t believe it.”The mom says even though a lot is going on around the country, she wants others to know there are still kind people in the world. The family didn’t get the man’s name, but they’re hoping to find him to say thank you.“He may have not thought twice about it, and hasn’t thought about it since, but he really touched me and my family.” 1632

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- With the drop of a banner, the Rock Church replaced the old sign of the Body Shop Strip Club purchased by the church.The church says they’re unsure what they’ll do with the building, but Thursday, they made it clear it’s no longer a strip club.It was quite the presentation, dozens of people, a stage and a sound system. The announcement the church made yesterday officially unveiled Thursday.RELATED: Rock Church buys former strip club in Midway DistrictWith Pastor Miles McPherson leading the charge, a Rock Church banner draped over the sign of the former strip club. “I’m very excited for what this won’t be, and how we can help the girls moving forward,” McPherson said. The church and several investors brought the club and its license for .2 million.Councilmember Lorie Zapf said the move is the beginning of a new future for the Midway with a vision of parks, families and a new welcoming look. “Midway is no longer going to be the red light district of yesteryear.”The problem with the plan, however, is the building sits just feet away from another strip club. “They started harassing me in April, I was called about 15 times by their broker,” said Kathleen Morgan, who owns Les Girls Theater.“It’s easy to stigmatize this type of business. But we don’t even have male bouncers, we don’t even serve alcohol, we’re old school burlesque,” Morgan said.On stage Thursday, was a pledge to take over Morgan’s place. “I’m hoping that they can acquire the property next door. Once the Midway plan is approved, they’ll be able to plan for the future of what’s allowed here by the zoning,” Zapf said.Morgan says investors are trying to driver her out. The church says they aren’t involved in that. “That’s something that will have to take its own course, we’re not necessarily pushing that,” said McPherson.Morgan also says the business has been vandalized recently, adding if she sells, it won’t be to the church. “In 50 years we’ve never had this type of vandalism, we’ve never had these types of issues. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - When the Chargers bolted north to the Los Angeles area, not only did they vacate what’s now known as SDCCU stadium, they also emptied out of their facility off Murphy Canyon Road.Formerly known as Chargers Park, the facility belongs to the City of San Diego. Team 10 discovered even though the site is vacant, the utility and maintenance bills continue to pile up.According to data analyzed by Team 10, the electric bill for August 2018 was ,949.78. The most recent water and wastewater bill from the end of June to the end of July 2018 shows a balance of more than ,000 and a year's worth of landscaping, maintenance, and fire safety repairs ran ,067.12.A city spokesperson said any vacant building still has operating and utility costs.“This is not a way to maximize taxpayer dollars,” said San Diego Councilmember David Alvarez, who saw the bills Team 10 received through a public information request.In 2017, Alvarez and Councilmember Lorie Zapf backed a plan that would have transformed the facility into a temporary homeless shelter. It didn’t happen.“We have a poor record and a history of not being able to use our real estate assets in a good way,” Alvarez said.Team 10 started looking into the operating costs after seeing a video posted to YouTube of people touring the facility.The guys from “The Somethin’ or Other Tour” took a peek around the building.
