As soon as I jumped into the Bob-omb Battlefield course at the start, my gaming brain was startled by the game’s awful camera system, which makes completing an objective far more frustrating than I remember in 1996. Obtaining stars on each course is still exhilarating, but the excitement stemmed from the relief of conquering the awkward jumping angles, rather than accomplishing the task at hand. When it comes to visuals, the game looks exactly how you remember, albeit a bit smoother in some textures. It even retains the 4:3 aspect ratio. Originally on the only console to ever feature a handle, the Nintendo Gamecube, this game is worth a second look. Sunshine’s verticality, combined with its open-world structure, feels surprisingly modern and its difficulty remains among the highest in the Mario series, even if it’s sometimes unintentional due to the game’s bugginess. Controlling Mario with his water-filled jet pack still feels unlike anything else in the series, making for some literal refreshing mechanics that I enjoyed during my playthrough. From an art standpoint, I absolutely adore the colorful, tropical look of Isle Delfino and the characters that populate it. If you told me this game came out this generation, you could easily fool me. Super Mario Galaxy hasn’t aged a day since its release in 2007. Its space-aesthetic rivals the art direction of any Nintendo Switch game to date, and its tight controls feel fantastic. Running around bite-sized planets, playing with gravity, and that launching into the next world animation makes me want to stop writing this review and go play it right now. I am cherishing the number of stars I have left to collect. It’s a real shame that Super Mario Galaxy 2 was left off of this collection. Perhaps it’s time to go dig out my Wii to experience the sequel. Galaxy is reason enough to purchase this bundle, even at the slightly steep price point.The full packageSuper Mario 3D All-Stars is just the meat and potatoes without any added junk food to consume. Aside from a playlist of 175 iconic Mario jams to listen to separately, this collection has zero special features. I would have loved to see a documentary about the making of these games, or even some never-before-seen sketches when the game was in its early stages. Instead, we’re simply left with the bare minimum of the three original games with some slightly improved visuals. Still, though, this is the easiest way to play these titles in 2020. The United States Marshals Service announced that its Operation Safety Net has concluded and a total of 35 missing children were recovered in northeast Ohio as a result.The U.S. Marshals Service, working with state and local partners over the past month to locate and recover missing children and teens from the Cleveland area, were able to recover 35 of the 40 missing children referred to them for the operation.According to the U.S. Marshals Service, around 20% of the recoveries were tied to human trafficking cases and were subsequently referred to the Human Trafficking Task Force in Cuyahoga County.U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio Pete Elliott said the operation's success exceeded expectations."When I went into this, I thought if we had one or two, it was going to be a success," said Elliott, "and now after the first month, just look at how many are out there."As a result of the operation, The United States Marshals for the Northern District of Ohio has created a permanent Missing Child Unit throughout the 40 counties within the district.“We are proud to assist in Operation Safety Net and I commend the United States Marshals Service for their hard work and dedication toward locating these children," Chief John Majoy of Newburg Heights said in a press release. MILWAUKEE, Wis. – This isn’t Hawaii or the California coast or even Florida. It’s Wisconsin where surfers don’t pray for waves, they work with what they got. “So, it could be a Wednesday night or a Sunday morning, so you got to jump on it,” one local Wisconsin surfer said. In a region known for beer, cheese, and very cold winter, the surf scene is growing and Jake Bresette is helping lead the charge. “I just love it, man,” he said. “Anytime I can get out into the water, whether it’s one foot or 10 feet, it’s always a good time.” More and more surfers are keeping up on a well-kept secret: with the right weather, the waves on the Great Lakes can be just that – great! Outside of the water, Bresette owns and operates Lake Effect Surf Shop in Milwaukee where he sells surf and skate gear and offers lessons to anyone who wants to learn how to surf. “Yeah, we actually do them with or without waves,” he said. “So, if there are waves that’s great, we’ll get out here and score some waves. Daisy Muniz works at the same elementary school she attended while growing up in Reedley, California. "I moved here from Mexico when I was five, and I've been in Reedley all my life," said Muniz. Reedley is a rural town in central California that has seen better days. Its unemployment level is more than triple the national average, but it's trying to flip the switch on its economic woes and take the city to new heights. "When I came on board, we actually were going through a pretty bad cycle," said city manager Nicole Ziba. "Had an unemployment rate of 33 percent. That means 1 out of every 3 people that you would run into was out of a job and looking for one. That's a pretty dire situation economically." The town is trying to parlay its history with aviation into a bright future above the clouds. "The reason we have a shortage is that the cost of getting your pilot certificate is so high that it prices a lot of people out of that market or out of even considering that career path," said Joseph Oldham, with the San Joaquin Valley Clean Transportation Center. If she decides to cash in on her new found skills, she won't have to leave the city limits to train. "They teach us ground school lessons, so everything from we need to learn about the physics of flying, to learning airports, airport diagrams, and then they teach us as well in the simulator class how to actually fly the plane. That gets us ready for when we go to the actual airport and fly the real thing," said Benjamin Jones, a student in the Reedley College. Reedley College has a flight training program offering a less expensive option for prospective aviators. It's all part of the city’s bid to become a pilot pipeline. "You hear a lot of kids, 'I want to be a fireman. I want to be a policeman.' Now that this is here, now they have, 'Oh, we could fly planes? we could be pilots?'" said Muniz. But even if the students don't become pilots, just having the simulator around presents new horizons.
