PHNOM PENH, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- China will make joint efforts with Cambodia to achieve a win-win cooperation, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said Monday.     "Furthering relations with Cambodia has long been China's consistent policy," Xi told Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen during talks. Hailing the traditional friendship fostered by the leaders of the old generation of the two countries, Xi said China and Cambodia have maintained political trust and fruitful cooperation and support each other in international and regional affairs.     He called China-Cambodia relations "a good example of sincere cooperation between countries with different social systems." Visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping (R2) and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen (L2) hold talks in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Dec. 21, 2009Xi put forward a four-point proposal to cement relations with Cambodia, including keeping high-level contacts, strengthening exchanges on country governance, deepening economic and trade cooperation and promoting coordination in international and regional affairs.     Xi said the free trade zone between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) would be completed in 2010, and China and Cambodia should take the chance to push for stable and balanced growth in their bilateral trade.     Hun Sen said he was happy to meet with Chinese leaders for the first time in the new government building, which was constructed with China's assistance and has served as an embodiment of the friendliness between the two countries. COPENHAGEN, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived here Wednesday evening for the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference.     Wen told reporters aboard his special plane that his attendance at the meeting aims to show the great importance the Chinese government and people attach to climate change and to assert their sincerity and determination to work with the international community to meet this global challenge. Wen Jiabao arrived here Wednesday evening for the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference. The Copenhagen climate conference is now in its final and critical stage, Wen said, adding that he will closely communicate and coordinate with various parties and deliver a speech outlining China's stance on climate change.     "I hope the meeting, with joint efforts made by various parties, will yield fair, reasonable, balanced and achievable results," he said.     During his stay in the Danish capital, Wen is scheduled to meet with some foreign leaders on the sidelines of the climate summit.     "Wen's trip to Copenhagen will inject a new momentum into the climate change talks and exert positive and important impacts for future international cooperation," Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Wang Guangya told a press conference on Dec. 10.     The UN Climate Change Conference, which opened on Dec. 7, is to end Friday in Copenhagen. It aims to map out a comprehensive international arrangement for the fight against climate change over the period 2012-2020.

  

MALE, Maldives, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed and the visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Tuesday pledged to work closely on climate change and other global issues.     Nasheed said his country appreciated the important and active role played by China in the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference held last month. BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- China's anti-graft chief He Guoqiang on Tuesday urged discipline and supervision authorities to press ahead with the building of a clean government and strengthened efforts in corruption prevention.     He, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said in a meeting that efforts should be made to handle people's complaints and embrace innovation in the establishment of anti-corruption mechanism.     He asked discipline and supervision authorities to combat extravagance, intensify crackdown on the practice of "small coffer", which refers to fund, securities and assets that should be but fail to be listed into the account books of CPC and government organizations in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.     He also called for authorities to make public Party affairs, especially at grassroots organizations, and investigate and prosecute corruption cases.     Efforts should be made to expand channels for the general public to be involved in anti-corruption endeavor, said He, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
