YouTube mom Machelle Hobson pleaded not guilty Friday in an Arizona court to 30 counts of kidnapping and child abuse.Hobson ran the "Fantastic Adventures" YouTube channel, which featured her seven adopted children. It had racked up more than 250 million views before it was pulled following the abuse allegations.A welfare check at her home showed that Hobson would withhold food and water for days at a time, pepper-spray the kids, and force them to take ice baths, according to a statement of probable cause in Maricopa, Arizona. 543

Workers removing shelves and coolers from a former No Frills Supermarket in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in January discovered a body behind one of them. The remains were recently identified as those of Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada, a former employee who had been reported missing November 28, 2009.Investigators used his parents' DNA to confirm the identity, and the clothes matched the description of his attire at the time he was reported missing, according to Council Bluffs Police Capt. Todd Weddum.Murillo-Moncada's parents reported their son missing after he became upset and ran out of their home. They told police at the time that he was acting irrationally, possibly because of medication he was taking, Weddum said.Officers contacted family members, other law enforcement agencies, nearby detention centers and even the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency -- he had been deported to Honduras before making his way back to the United States -- but received no information regarding his possible whereabouts.Investigators now believe that Murillo-Moncada went to the supermarket and climbed on top of the coolers. The space was used as storage for merchandise, Weddum said, and employees would sometimes go there to hide when they wanted to take an unofficial break. He is thought to have fallen into the 18-inch gap between the back of the cooler and a wall, where he became trapped. Noise from the coolers' compressors may have concealed any attempts to call for help, according to Weddum. An autopsy found no signs of trauma, and the case has been deemed an accidental death. 1596

"This is 170 pounds of twisted steel and sex appeal."That's what Jeffrey Mattox wrote with a selfie he posted on Facebook on January 25.The problem is Mattox is a federal inmate housed at Lackawanna County Prison and he is not supposed to have a cell phone."It's scary, it's actually scary because they're in there for a reason, they're not in there to play around and how that cell phone got in there, that is the question,” said Colleen Mowery of Carbondale, Pennsylvania.Mattox posted other pictures of himself, which appear to be snapped inside the prison.Lackawanna County officials say there is an investigation underway and contraband has been seized, but they will not say more than that.Mattox, who is locked up on drug and assault charges, regularly chatted with friends and family here, telling them to call him or even video chat.He gave out his cell phone number, too. When a reporter ried to call it, there was a message that the subscriber we dialed was not in service. We spoke with one man who has spent time locked up in Lackawanna County."My reaction was like, 'Wow, how could that happen?' like, I mean, I see stuff going through the jail all the time, but a phone? It's crazy. That is pretty dumb, like catch a lot more charges for that,” said Brandon Howey of Scranton. This is the latest scandal to hit the Lackawanna County Prison.Earlier this year, six corrections officers were arrested and charged with sexually assaulting female inmates."I think he's in good with the guards and guards are bringing, the ones bringing the stuff in, that's the only way it's getting in there. Just got to tighten down the security with the guards, maybe clean house,” said Todd Mowery of Carbondale. 1714

(1) The Borat video is a complete fabrication. I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment. At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate. YOKOHAMA, Japan. – The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced Tuesday that travel restrictions have been placed on all remaining passengers and crew of the Diamond Princess, the cruise ship quarantined off the coast of Japan because of a COVID-19 outbreak on board. Under the restrictions, the more than 100 United States citizens still on board the ship or in Japanese hospitals will be prevented from returning to the U.S. for at least 14 days after leaving the Diamond Princess. The restrictions apply to the ship’s other passengers and crew as well. “After disembarkation from the Diamond Princess, these passengers and crew will be required to wait 14 days without having symptoms or a positive coronavirus test result before they are permitted to board flights to the United States,” said the CDC in a press release. If an individual from the cruise arrives in the U.S. before the 14-day period ends, the CDC says they will still be subject to a mandatory quarantine until they have completed the 14-day period with no symptoms or positive coronavirus test results. The CDC says there may be additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 among the remaining passengers on board the Diamond Princess, because of their high-risk exposure. The CDC says these travel restrictions have been put in place to protect the health of the American people. “We continue to believe that the risk of exposure to COVID-19 to the general public in the United States is currently low,” wrote the CDC. “The U.S. Government is taking these measures to protect the Diamond Princess passengers and crew, their loved ones, the traveling public, and communities within the United States.”Sunday night, two charter flights carrying Diamond Princess passengers landed at military bases in California and Texas, starting the clock on another 14-day quarantine period to ensure passengers don’t have the new virus. A total of 14 of those passengers were confirmed to have contracted COVID-19. 1980
