A potential tropical cyclone is looking to wreak havoc on Central America in the next few days.Known as "Potential Tropical Cyclone 14" by the National Hurricane Center, the storm is expected to form in the northwestern Caribbean Sea on Sunday, with heavy rains heading for western Cuba.The system is expected to become a tropical depression late Saturday or Sunday and become a tropical storm by Sunday night, the center said. On the current forecast track, the center said the system is expected to move across the Yucatan Channel near the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula through Sunday night, and then move into the southern Gulf of Mexico on Monday.There is a tropical storm watch for the coast of Mexico from Tulum to Cabo Catoche, where tropical storm conditions are possible Sunday and Monday. There is also a tropical storm warning for the Cuban provinces of Pinar del Rio and the Isle of Youth.Currently, the storm is moving north at 7 mph. It is 120 miles south of Cozumel, Mexico, and is 240 miles south-southwest of the western tip of Cuba, according to the hurricane center's 11 p.m. ET update Saturday.The storm may also produce 3 to 7 inches of rain in western Cuba and 2 to 4 inches over the Yucatan Peninsula, Belize and northern Honduras through Tuesday. A Thanksgiving night shooting at a mall in Alabama left two people injured and a gunman dead, authorities said Thursday.The incident at the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover started with a physical altercation between an 18-year-old and the 21-year-old gunman, police said. The confrontation occurred in the mall, near Footaction and JC Penney stores.Police do not know how the confrontation began, but "we do not believe at this point the 18-year-old was armed," Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector said.The gunman opened fire, shooting the teen twice in the torso, according to police. An officer confronted the gunman as he ran away from the scene and fatally shot him, Rector said.The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave while the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office investigates the incident, police said.A 12-year-old girl was also struck and injured, but it's unclear by whom, Rector said. The two people injured have been hospitalized.The girl had a single gunshot wound and has gone through surgery and "does not have life-threatening injuries," Rector told CNN.Witnesses described hearing gunshots inside the mall, which was open late on Thanksgiving. A mom from Kansas is trying to sort out how her son's Social Security number was used to rent a car, open bank accounts and credit cards in Milwaukee, especially since he's just 11-years-old.Wiesje Sammis said she recently got a confusing call from a Milwaukee County detective."They asked if had he rented a car? I was, of course, like, 'Ummm no, he's 11,'" said Sammis.Sammis said her son Terrelle Lewis's identity was stolen and his Social Security number was being used."I think it's kind of shocking. That you can do that these days," said Lewis.According to court documents, police found the suspect at a Walmart in West Milwaukee. He was drinking a bottle beer and walking aisles.When they asked him for ID he gave them a fake driver's license and a Social Security card with Lewis's number on it.Records show the suspect also rented a car back in January and never returned it. He also opened up multiple credit cards and bank accounts.Lewis's mother said police told her the man likely bought her son's Social Security number online. She thinks it was taken during a data breach of his health insurance company four years ago."'There's no way somebody could take a child's identity. There's just no way' is what I thought," said Sammis.Now she is worried others have his number as well."I think this will impact him long term," said Sammis.To protect children's identities, parents are encouraged to apply for a security freeze. The video has sparked demands for action, and criticism that the Mequon-Thiensville School District needs to do more racism prevention and education.
