BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission Fan Changlong met with Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein on Thursday afternoon, pledging to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries.

China and Mongolia should fulfil the consensus reached by state leaders, strengthen mutual trust, enhance exchanges between political parties and parliaments, and implement big cooperation projects and people-to-people exchange plans to promote bilateral friendship, said China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang.

"If two big countries like ours do not cooperate with each other, just imagine what will happen to the world," Xi said, noting that both history and reality show that China and the United States stand to gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation.

Consumption remains robust. Retail sales of consumer goods grew 10.9 percent in September, higher than 10.8 percent for August. In the first three quarters, total sales rose 10.5 percent to 21.61 trillion yuan (3.4 trillion U.S. dollars). In the first six months, consumption contributed 60 percent of economic growth.
