SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — King tides are expected to hit San Diego County's coastline starting this weekend.The high tide event is forecasted to begin Sunday, Nov. 15, and last through Monday, Nov. 16, according to the California King Tides Project. Another round of king tides is also expected next month from Dec. 13 through Dec. 15.High tide is set to steadily rise through the weekend, with Friday's high tide reaching 6.9 feet ahead of Saturday's 7.3-foot high tide. The group says that understanding king tides help plan for higher sea levels in the future, though the event is not caused by a rise in sea levels."King Tides are the highest high tides of the year, about a foot or two higher than average tides, which corresponds to the one to two foot rise in sea level expected during the next few decades. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - It was an emotional day in a Southern California courtroom for the family of a murdered Army veteran.Nearly 20 people who were close to Julia Jacobson read victim-impact statements during the sentencing hearing for her killer, ex-husband Dalen Ware.Julia’s brother, Tony Jacobson, spoke exclusively with 10News reporter Jennifer Kastner. “It was kind of both a celebration to her as well as an understanding that this isn't just some random person. It really is someone that truly did touch her community, served her country and people really did love her very much. Unfortunately, [Ware] took her away from us all,” says Tony Jacobson of his own impact statement that he read in the courtroom.RELATED: Ex-husband of former Army veteran pleads guiltyWare will serve 15 years to life in prison, after pleading guilty to her murder. It was more than a year ago that the retired Army captain and her dog disappeared over Labor Day weekend.Her SUV was discovered abandoned near her home in University Heights. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Qualcomm is requiring employees able to work from home to do so.In an email sent to employees, the company moved to "a global required work from home policy for employees who are able to perform their job remotely" effective immediately through March 27. A Qualcomm spokesperson confirmed the email to 10News.The company email says employees in China should continue to follow local guidelines that they've received separately."Certain employees will be identified as 'onsite critical,' which means that your work is both critical to the continuity of business operations and requires onsite presence to perform your work duties," the company's email read.Qualcomm said it is taking the action as a "proactive, preventative measure to protect our employees and help reduce the spread of the virus."The San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation estimated in early 2018 that the company has a .9 billion impact on the San Diego economy. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It's been a tumultuous year for East Village's Monkey Paw Brewery.The local brewing company was purchased by Coronado Brewing Company in July 2017, put up for sale in May of this year, and closed its downtown San Diego brewpub Monday.Coronado Brewing Company (CBC) CEO Brandon Richards said in May, months after finalizing the purchase, the sale was part of a refocusing for CBC.RELATED: Miramar's Intergalactic Brewery is closing its doors"While we were excited about the potential of Monkey Paw, the decision to sell came from the need to refocus our energy toward Coronado Brewing," Richards said.
