SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Fast-moving floodwaters swept a vehicle away in Santa Clarita Thursday as what is being called an “atmospheric river” set up over the area, according to KABC. The incident happened along Road Runner Road, per tweets from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Santa Clarity Valley station.Due to the flooding the road was shut down. The driver was able to make it out of the vehicle safely thanks to good Samaritans.The man's car was totaled, but before he even had a chance to dry off, a neighbor bought him a replacement SUV, KABC reported.  598

SAN YSIDRO (CNS) - A speeding Orange County driver attempting the enter the country was killed after his car struck a man and woman and crashed into a metal barrier at the San Ysidro Port of Entry today.The crash occurred about 2:14 p.m. in a lane that was closed to traffic, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Salvador Castro.A gray Hyundai sedan driven by a 27-year-old man from Santa Ana was attempting to cross into the United States, Castro said. The Hyundai was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a metal swing arm barricade.It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision. The driver's name was not released.Tijuana police said the driver's vehicle struck a 70-year-old man and a 49-year-old wheelchair-bound woman on the Mexican side of the border. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Coast Guard is investigating what caused a ferry boat to crash twice into docks at San Francisco's famed Ferry Building, slightly injuring two people aboard.Coast Guard spokesman Chris Shih says investigators are looking into mechanical issues and other factors that led to Friday's crash. The agency regularly inspects the ferries.A Golden Gate Ferry spokeswoman says the boat was traveling from Larkspur and carrying 53 passengers when it struck an outer berth before bumping into another dock.The vessel's hull was damaged when it struck the concrete promenade and knocked a guardrail. SAN ONOFRE (CNS) - Authorities Thursday were searching for a hit-and-run motorist who struck and killed a pedestrian on Interstate 5 in the far northern reaches of San Diego County.Dispatchers received a call shortly before 6:40 a.m. from a person who reported seeing a body off of southbound Interstate 5 just south of Cristianitos Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Smale said.Officers responded to the area and found a pedestrian lying near the highway, Smale said, adding that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.No details about the victim or the vehicle involved were immediately available.Officers shut down the onramp from Cristianitos Road to southbound I-5 and the right two lanes of southbound I-5 north of Basilone Road to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.Anyone with information regarding the crash was asked to call the Oceanside CHP office at (760) 643-4300. 921
