SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Jewish leaders celebrated the second night of Hanukkah Monday, lighting the second candle of a massive Menorah outside City Hall.As the second night of the Jewish Festival of Lights got underway, Rabbi Zalman Carlebach said it was important for leaders to show their support and celebrate in light of recent anti-Semetic incidents around the U.S. "In light of the current events that are happening around the country, this world could use some more light. America could use some more light," said Rabbi Carlebach.San Diego has numerous Menorah lighting events planned as well as other celebrations throughout the county as Hanukkah continues — running through Dec. 10. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Local supporters of both Joe Biden and Donald Trump were watching the election vote count closely throughout Friday.Ellen Nash, who heads the San Diego chapter of the Black American Association of Califorina, a minority advocacy group, put up her Biden/Harris yard sign about a month ago.During the election season, she helped organize a voter registration campaign. Since election night, it's been a constant case of the nerves."Incredibly excited, praying night and day," said Nash. Her eyes have been glued to the television and coverage of the vote count. Throughout Friday, her candidate edged closer to being declared the winner."I will feel relieved that the trauma is over. I'm speaking as a black woman who has been under significant trauma the last four years, in terms of some of the language and behavior of the leader of the free world. Hopeful change is coming," said Nash. There is no questioning her dislike of President Trump, but on this day, she is focused on the country’s future."I believe Biden can bring this country together. I believe he can help us heal as a nation," said Nash. It's a different opinion for local Trump supporter, Blake Marnell.During the campaign, Marnell garnered national attention for wearing a brick wall suit, illustrating his support of President Trump’s border security policy. Trump even called him up on stage, as Marnell attended some 15 rallies where the president appeared."He has the right to make these legal moves. He shouldn't be conceding ... mainstream media can do anything they want in terms of calling an election. That doesn’t make it so," said Marnell.Marnell backs Trump's vow to press on with recount and lawsuits involving his claims of voting fraud. After Trump spoke Thursday, some criticized him for alleging fraud but providing no evidence."It would be irresponsible to produce evidence of fraud in a press conference. The time and place for producing evidence would be in discovery in any court proceedings ... The vote count is not ideal, but I'm still hopeful," said Marnell.Marnell plans to attend a weekend Trump rally in Phoenix. He also attended a rally in Las Vegas Wednesday."I would go to show my support for the president. He has fought long and hard for us over the past for years, and I don’t intend to abandon the fight for him," said Marnell. 2355

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- In three weeks San Diego County will elect its next district attorney,  and in a recent poll a large number of voters indicated that they're still undecided. The results of our scientific 10News Union-Tribune poll shows the battle between Summer Stephan and challenger Genevieve Jones-Wright is wide open. If the election were held today, Summer Stephan would get 35 percent of the vote. Genevieve Jones-Wright would get 22 percent and 43 percent of those polled said they are undecided. "Those polls are consistent with what our campaign research shows," Jones-Wright told 10News. "We knew we were up against a political machine and it really is no surprise to me that she's up on the polls."Progressive candidate Jones-Wright says Stephan got a head start, by being appointed to the district attorney job when Bonnie Dumanis left. Jones-Wright said she thinks the poll shows her campaign is gaining steam.Stephan was encouraged by the poll numbers. "This is very encouraging, what you're telling me, because it shows that what we're doing is working," she told 10News. "That San Diegans are enjoying that we're one of the safest urban regions in the country and that they really prefer experience over an experiment."The poll shows that Stephan's voter base is republican, white and over the age of 35. It shows that Wright's voter base is younger, more racially mixed and primarily democratic. On Monday, Summer Stephan pulled out of a community forum, one which both she and Genevieve Jones-Wright accepted to face off. 1581

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - In a downtown courtroom on Friday afternoon, attorneys battled over a request to halt the shutdown orders for San Diego bars, restaurants, and gyms.Attorney Bruno Katz is representing a group of local businesses like Cowboy Star restaurant and Bear Republic Crossfit gym, which are seeking an emergency injunction. He told the judge, “What I do want to say, your Honor, is that the temporary restraining order is based on data. It’s based on facts. It’s based on science and it's based on the state not showing why it has targeted these industries when the science and data doesn't support it.”The state argued that the damage to businesses pales in comparison to the damage on human life. “There's nearly a thousand dead San Diegans and the numbers are getting dramatically worse and have been for the last couple of weeks,” said state Deputy Attorney General Jonathan Eisenberg.Restaurants and gyms were open for indoor operations with limited capacities under the red tier. However, last Saturday’s move to the purple tier forced them to shutdown indoor services completely and move outside. They're suing Governor Newsom and San Diego County, arguing that the closures go against their rights and are causing financial devastation. The suit was filed on behalf of all restaurants and gyms.Local owner of The Studio SD fitness studio Rachel Racz spoke to ABC10 News before Friday’s hearing. She told ABC10 News in part, “It's been rough to shut down business again when people were feeling normal and then we see the County of San Diego's Department of Health say that gyms are only point .4% of cases in San Diego and it's really frustrating as a business owner where we have these ebbs and flows- where we can be open and then we can’t.”Superior Court Judge Kenneth J. Medel stated that he would have a ruling by 5 p.m. on Friday. If not, he said he would issue his decision on Monday. 1916
