 Hundreds of people showed up to donate blood on Thursday for the victims of the mass shooting at a bar in Thousand Oaks, California.More than 200 people waited to participate in a blood drive at La Reina High School.  A Kansas congressional hopeful said Monday that he's sticking by his campaign giveaway of an AR-15 rifle despite criticism in light of last Wednesday's mass school shooting in Florida."We aren't using this to raise money," Tyler Tannahill told HLN's Carol Costello. Wrapping Christmas presents can be time-consuming, but there are some tricks to get it done faster, so you can focus on enjoying the holiday season. It’s common to cut wrapping paper too short or to not have enough paper left to wrap a gift. Giftwrapping expect Kammy Witulski says don’t throw it out. Instead, turn the gift sideways and you should be able to wrap with no issues. If you don’t have wrapping paper or if it’s too expensive, Witulski says there’s nothing wrong with using tissue paper. “Tissue paper comes in really nice packaging these days,” said Witulski. “You can get multiple designs in one package for just a few dollars. And it's usually between 20 to 30 sheets per package and that's plenty for you to do a lot of giftwrapping."However, you’ll need to remember to use two to three sheets, so you don’t see the gift and the tissue doesn't rip. Soft items like clothes can be hard to wrap, especially if you don’t have a box. Witulski suggests using two sheets of tissue. Roll the item, place it on the tissue and then start to roll up the clothes into the tissue, making it look like a piece of candy. Use ribbon to tie the ends, and it's the perfect little Christmas treat.Lastly, if the edges of your presents look a little wonky because the they're not crisp and clean, Witulski says to hide your lack of wrapping skills by using double sided tape, so nobody will notice mismatched folds. 1425

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Candidates, who are looking to unseat Congressman Duncan Hunter, are feeling emboldened as his trial grows near. This week, the Congressman’s wife took a plea deal with prosecutors, in which she has agreed to testify against her husband in the trial scheduled for Sept. 16. Several candidates had already made plans to run in 2020 against before prosecutors flipped his wife, and they are now watching to see what unfolds in court. Many of the candidates have begun fundraising efforts, and some say donations to their campaign have ramped up in the past few days. Many currently vying for the District 50 seat are Republicans within Hunter’s party, like El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells who ran against Hunter in 2018. “I think my chances are now even better, I lot of people know me more,” Wells said. “A lot of people, they wanted to vote for me last time but felt conflicted about the Duncan Hunter situation.” Temecula council member Matt Rahn, who is also eyeing Hunter’s seat, expects to gain some of his followers as the trial goes on. “I expect to see some change in the folks that are showing interest as we see this case evolve and unfold but right now, we have a solid base,” Rahn said. A conviction won’t remove Hunter from office. It will take a two-thirds House vote to do that. However, if he survives the trial, there's likely going to be some political fallout. That gives Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar confidence he can turn the district blue. “I think people are going to be willing to put country over party and look past the 'D' next to my name. No one has invested more in the running of this race to represent everybody, than our campaign,” Campa-Najjar said. 10News reached out to Republican Larry Wilske.
