It asks users to make changes to at least three areas while adding 5,000 new homes. At least 40% of the houses need to be near the trolley.To help, it offers basic renderings of what different development could look like in each neighborhood."We wanted to try to find something that allowed people to get into the weeds if they wanted to," says Tait Galloway, the Program Manager who helped design the website. "But, this still allows them to do it within 15-20 minutes."The website will be available until March 14th. After that, the answers will be collected and used as the city devises the new Clairemont Community Plan. They hope to present it by the end of 2020.City leaders hope this will become a template for other neighborhoods and a way to get more people involved in the process. San Diego (KGTV)- With no warning, a light pole came crashing down on top of a car in Pacific Beach. Neighbors are worried that what they found could shine a light on a bigger problem. “It’s really scary that you can be walking down the street and something could fall out of the sky like that,” says neighbor Kevin Payne. Payne says he was walking in the area on Saturday, along Ingraham Street and Reed Avenue when he heard the loud crash. He says a San Diego lifeguard, who was driving by, stopped to section off the area until crews arrived. The base of the pole is filled with corrosion and rust. Neighbors say to the human eye it would have been tough to spot. “You wouldn’t notice just walking by, you would need to take off the cover of the base,” says Payne. “I think once you took the cover off it would have been clear as day.”In a statement to 10News, the city didn’t pinpoint the cause of the collapse but says the light is scheduled to be replaced this week. In the meantime, city crews will assess the other lights in the area to ensure they are “functional and stable.” The owner of the damaged car was not inside at the time. (KGTV) - Sharp Rees-Steely dermatologist Nancy Maly said they have seen an increase in people coming in with skin problems related to wearing masks.“Masks are very important but they do come with some drawbacks,” she said.She said the type of mask can impact how much it irritates the skin. A more loose mask will not irritate as badly but is not as effective for the fight against coronavirus, so she said to only wear a loose mask if there are no people nearby.“Obvious trade-off being they don’t function as well as masks so making sure that you’re choosing a face covering that’s appropriate for the situation,” she said.Maly also said wearing daily products like sunscreen, lotion and makeup on your face can make any acne or irritations worse. She said typical medications to treat acne should help these conditions, like salicylic acid and topical retinoids.She said bottom line, though, is that while keeping your skin healthy is important, the masks are necessary to keep others healthy.“I think overall people have been very aware of the overall goal of wearing a mask to protect themselves and protect other people. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- Monday morning Escondido Police provided extra police patrols at a local mosque that was targeted on Sunday.Police say the Dar-ul-Arqam Mosque on 6th Avenue was set on fire by an arsonist that has yet to be identified.Worshipers inside the mosque noticed the flames around 3 a.m. on Sunday and were able to put them out before the fire could spread.Lt. Chris Lick with the Escondido Police Department said once police and arson investigators arrived, they determined that the fire was set intentionally. They also found a note left by the suspect.“Graffiti left behind by the suspect made reference to the shooting incident in New Zealand,” said Lt. Lick.The San Diego Police Department has also stepped up patrols at mosques across the city in response the incident in Escondido.San Diego's Anti-Defamation League issued a statement in support of the mosque and worshippers.“This attack appears to be meant to send a signal to the Muslim community” said ADL Regional Director Tammy Gillies. “Sadly, this type of behavior is consistent with the growth in hate crimes, rise in attacks on Muslims, and the surge in anti-Muslim bigotry that we have seen in our country and around the world.”A crowdfunding campaign was launched to help raise money to provide repairs and proper security at the mosque in Escondido.The campaign has received support from people across the country.
