NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In Nashville, Tennessee, music is everywhere and everything. Whether at a Honky Tonk on world-famous Broadway or at a dive bar on Demonbreun, musicians are playing with a passion and singing their hearts out. But after a natural disaster recently rocked Music City, USA, some musicians there are having a tough time getting back to making music “What they’ve used to earn a living and chase a dream is gone now,” said 452

AURORA, Colo. -- Just as hundreds of restaurants are being forced to close down indoor dining, yet again, In-N-Out Burger made its debut in Colorado on Friday.Hundreds waited in line for hours to get a burger from the California-based fast-food chain.“It’s just a journey today,” said Charly, who came to relieve her dad who waited for three hours, but then had to go to work without making it to the front of the line.“Three or four hours wasn’t unexpected,” said Bob Fischer. “So, it’s definitely worth the wait.”Whether it was worth the wait depends on who you asked. But is it worth it? “No,” said Charly. “I don’t even eat beef. I’m just here for (my sister) and my dad.”In-N-Out’s arrival in Colorado comes at the most ill-timed or opportune moment, depending on your perspective.“I ordered about five cheeseburgers and five animal fries,” said one In-N-Out fan who did not wish to be identified. “It’s all about the uniqueness of the secret menu,” Fischer said.“I grew up in California, so we were always eating it,” said Maddie Duncan.Just around the corner, at the mom-and-pop NGL Burgers, owner Jesus Pulido is preparing to close to indoor dining yet again.“Tomorrow it’s back to take-out only or I can put some tables outside,” Pulido said. After 16 years in business in Aurora, Pulido, who’s also from California, certainly has his fans, too.“The food speaks for itself,” said an NGL regular named Zeke.“I grew up in L.A. There’s char-broiled burger places everywhere,” said Juan Lopez. “And this is exactly the same way.”Lopez says Pulido’s prices are right on the money.“If you’re going to let me pick for lunch, I’m going to come here because this is a better deal,” Lopez said. The question is – what kind of dent will In-N-Out, coupled with another COVID-19 shutdown put in Pulido’s business. He, for one, believes he will survive.“In-N-Out, that’s going to hurt me a little bit, you know? But I have my own customers,” Pulido said. “They want to go over there, whatever.”“To me – it’s important to keep these guys going,” Lopez said. “They know me so when I come here, you get the feeling of family and community.”This article was written by Russell Haythorn for KMGH. 2202

Classes on social movements tend to focus on the past. But this Black Lives Matter class at the University of Colorado in Boulder focuses on what's happening right now. “So, the whole point is to connect what we're studying in the class to what's happening right now in the real world in real time,” says Professor Dr. Reiland Rabaka. Dr. Rabaka spent 18 months preparing for this class, touching on everything from police brutality and racial profiling to immigration and mental health. “People are documenting it as it evolves as it goes along, and that's really incredible,” the professor says. “And the students are very much a part of a lot of these struggles on the ground.” In March, just miles away from campus, a police officer pulled a gun on a black student picking up trash in his yard. The incident made national news, as well as class curriculum. “I did go to the march for that with like a hundred other people, and then the next day, I had class and talked about it,” says junior Makena Lambert. Lambert says she's been waiting for a class like this since the Black Lives Matter movement started. “No one was teaching me about it in high school, and I remember trying to get people to talk about it at my high school and it really remained unacknowledged,” Lambert says. Several universities nationwide have similar classes. There's even a Black Lives Matter Week of Action at elementary, middle and high schools around the country. For PhD student Jenean McGee, she says the class gives students the tools to become leaders and activists themselves.“It's a political statement. It's activism, and we're able to learn in our everyday lives take what we learned in that class and put it out into the world,” McGee says. 1747

Martha Firestone Ford is stepping down as the owner of the Detroit Lions, the team announced on Tuesday. Her daughter, Sheila Ford Hamp, will succeed her mother as the team's principal owner and chair.Martha, who is 94, has owned the team for six years."It has been a great honor for our family to be association with the Lions and with the National Football League. I am gratified that this family tradition, which my husband and I began almost six decades ago, will continue under Sheila's guiding hand. It is clear to me that Sheila will provide superb leadership and is fully committed to competitive excellence and community involvement," Martha said in a statement."My mother has inspired all of us since taking on the leadership of the Lions over six years ago. She has been a tireless leader to our family, our team, and our community. Her smart decisions have given me a solid foundation to take the team forward. On behalf of the family and the team, I want to thank her for her countless contributions. I look forward to leading the Lions to excellence on and off the field," Sheila said in a statement. When she took over for the team after her husband, William Clay Ford died, she became a fixture at practices and at games.“I’m so impressed by the way that she handles things, runs the team, is involved. She was out at practice last week, it was 90-some degrees, stood out there the whole practice. I mean, she might be in better shape than some of the players,” New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick said during the NFL Films interview. He was speaking of a joint practice between the Patriots and Lions in the summer of 2019.“We have meetings, two or three times a week during the season. We’re at training camp together so we can talk about players that we see. It’s just such a big part of my life, I don’t know where it begins or ends,” she said in an NFL Films clip. “I don’t pretend to be an expert on coaching, but I know enough to be on top of what’s going on.”Ford was one of ten female owners in the NFL. WXYZ was first to report this story. 2098

A major warning from scientists around the world: Do not depend on antibodies for permanent immunity from COVID-19. This comes on the heels of several studies showing that antibodies only last in our bodies for about two to three months.“That’s normal,” said Dr. Michael Teng, a professor at the University of South Florida's College of Internal Medicine and a researcher.According to Dr. Teng, our immune system creates antibodies when a virus enters our bodies. Their main purpose is to stop the virus from getting into our cells. Having few or no antibodies isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and it doesn’t mean you’ll be reinfected with the virus right away.“Antibodies are supposed to go down after a while,” Dr. Teng said. “You’re not supposed to have high elevated levels of antibodies for weeks on end. It’s not normal.”Scientists were hoping the antibodies produced from COVID-19 would stick around as long as antibodies produced from other forms of coronavirus, like SARS. Now that studies have shown that they don’t, they say we should rely on treatment, and working to come up with a vaccine. There are several potential vaccines being tested right now, but don’t expect to get your hands on one any time soon.“The fastest vaccine that we ever made was the Mumps vaccine and that took four years,” said Dr. Teng. WFTS' JJ Burton first reported this story. 1386
