SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The man accused of killing his wife in their City Heights apartment appeared in court Tuesday. Bail was set at million at the arraignment for Abdiaziz Kerow, 45, who was arrested in Panama on March 20 and extradited to San Diego.Kerow is accused of killing his 36-year-old wife, Muna Salad Kuri. Kuri’s sister found the victim’s body in a bed in the couple’s home on the 4000 block of Van Dyke Avenue on March 4. Hundreds of Kuri's family members as well as members of the community attended the arraignment. So many people showed up, the courtroom was unable to accommodate the crowd. The victim's sister, Amiina Salad said her sister was "sweet, humble, she's funny. She's always there for you, no matter what happens, she's there."Salad also had a message for Kerow. "My sister is in heaven. You're going to rot in here and you're going to rot in hellfire.''Somali community leader says this is the first time domestic violence death that has affected a Somali woman in their San Diego community. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The man police say hit and killed a pedestrian on a South Bay road in late July has been arrested.According to police, Carlos Franco, 20, turned himself in to investigators Tuesday and was booked into jail for vehicular manslaughter.San Diego Police on July 30 received a report of a crash on Del Sol Boulevard and Dennery Road at 7:03 a.m.RELATED: Pedestrian hit, killed on south San Diego street  Police say Franco struck a 66-year-old man, who was crossing the street at the time of the crash. The man, who hasn’t been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.Following the crash, Franco stayed on scene. Police say drugs or alcohol weren’t factors in the crash. 712

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Surveillance video captured the moment after a thief stole a woman's wallet inside a Midway District grocery store.According to San Diego Crime Stoppers, the theft happened on Sept. 23 inside the Ralph’s grocery store located at 3345 Sports Arena Blvd.While the 73-year-old female victim was in the freezer section, the man waited for the victim to open a freezer door and then approached her shopping cart. The suspect quickly removed the victim's wallet from her purse, which was placed at the top of the shopping cart.The victim was right next to the cart but was looking inside a freezer when the theft occurred.The suspected thief walked away without the victim realizing what had happened. The total loss of the wallet and cash inside it is over ,500.Investigators reviewed store surveillance footage, which showed the man following the victim throughout the store and appearing to target her.The suspected thief is described as a white male, approximately 5’10“ tall, 175 lbs., with tanned skin. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a mother and daughter killed by a YouTuber in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 805 filed a lawsuit this week against the teenager’s estate, the City of San Diego, and the County of San Diego. Eighteen-year-old Trevor Heitmann, known as McSkillet, drove his McLaren the wrong way on the freeway in August 2018, killing Aileen Pizarro and her 12-year-old daughter Aryana. The sports car collided with the family’s SUV, which burst into flames. In their lawsuit, Aileen’s father Miguel Pizarro and son Dominic Pizarro cited the County and City for negligence resulting in death. The lawsuit cites an incident the day before the crash, during which the San Diego County Psychiatric Emergency Response Team responded to a call claiming Heitmann was “screaming, paranoid, and delusional”. A psychiatrist, Dr. Mary Rusher, told police she had evaluated Heitmann and he was “a danger to himself and to others and must be immediately detained on a California Welfare & Institutions Code 5150 hold,” the suit stated. Rusher also told a police dispatcher Heitmann had displayed manic symptoms and appeared paranoid, delusional, out of control, and threatened to harm his mother in preceding days, according to the court document. “Police left the home without any evaluation of Trevor’s condition, or notifying PERT, if they were not part of same (PERT),” the lawsuit says. The suit claims the police officers were not exercising their authority to place Heitmann on a 5150 hold in accordance with the law.
