A Chandler mother is accused of punching and biting her preschool-aged daughter. Chandler police report that on July 31 they arrested 31-year-old Enricka Rena Johnson. Police say Johnson abused her 5-year-old daughter at their home near Arizona Avenue and Pecos Road. Investigators allege that Johnson became angry because the child would not brush her hair. She reportedly punched the girl in the eye and bit her on the arm. A medical exam noted several other injuries including a brain bleed and a broken lower leg with scarring. Johnson allegedly told police that she bit the child on the arm, hand, and shoulder. She also said, "I hit her hard, I hit her a lot."She reportedly told police that the girl broke her leg about two to four months ago, but instead of getting medical attention she taped the leg for support. A bond has been set for a man accused of chasing after and shooting at a Rochester teen seeking directions to school. Jeff Ziegler, a former lieutenant in the Detroit Fire Department, was arraigned on felony charges of being in possession of a firearm and assault with intent to murder. His bond was set at ,000.According to Assistant Prosecutor Kelly Collins, Ziegler has a previous weapons conviction from 2005.  The judge additionally ordered the Rochester man to not have direct contact with the victim or his family, and to surrender all of his weapons to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department. He must also wear a GPS tether and attend mental health counseling two days a week. Because the suspect stays within a 10 mile radius of the victim, the judge ordered that if bond is made, he will be required to find another place to live. When 14-year-old Brennan Walker missed the bus and tried to walk to school Friday morning, he got lost after he couldn't remember the route. That's when Walker attempted to ask for directions at a nearby home.Zeigler allegedly chased after Walker and fired a shot because he and his wife believed the 14-year-old was attempting to break into their home, according to a press release.    1319

A city in China is warning consumers after a sample of frozen chicken wings from Brazil has tested positive for the coronavirus.A statement from the city of Shenzhen says a “surface sample of frozen chicken wings” tested positive. Coronavirus testing was done on anyone who may have had contact with the product, and so far tests have come back negative, according to city officials.Authorities are tracing related products from the same brand that have already been sold, and have disinfected the area where the contaminated chicken wings were stored, according to CNN.The city warns people about buying imported frozen meat and aquatic products and to take steps to reduce the risk of contracting the coronavirus.The CDC and WHO say the chances of catching the coronavirus from food is low.“Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that handling food or consuming food is associated with COVID-19,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states on their website.However, they continue by stating it is possible a person could touch a surface that has the virus on it and then touch their mouth or nose, potentially spreading the virus.The CDC recommends safe food practices like washing hands after touching food packaging and food products, and cooking meat thoroughly. 1290

A man is dead after falling off a ladder while cutting a tree branch following Hurricane Irma.Hillsborough County, Florida Fire Rescue responded to Puritan Road in Tampa, at approximately 2:54 p.m. on Thursday, after receiving a call about a person down.Upon arrival, firefighters found 60-year-old John Knight on the ground.According to a witness, Knight was cutting a tree branch when it hit him and knocked him off his ladder, causing him to fall between 20 to 25 feet.Firefighters pronounced Knight dead at the scene. 559

A Florida man is accused of attacking a Volusia County ambulance crew on the way to the hospital Sunday night.The paramedics told deputies that the suspect, David W. Parsons, 33, had been belligerent throughout the evening. The paramedic who was driving the ambulance said he looked in the rear-view mirror and saw Parsons getting off the stretcher and attacking the paramedic riding in the back.The ambulance driver said he pulled over, opened the back door and found Parsons with the paramedic in a choke hold.The driver said he then put Parsons in a choke hold until he released the other paramedic. Deputies said the altercation then spilled out of the ambulance.The sheriff's office said Parsons then attempted to run at them and into oncoming traffic, where the altercation continued.Deputy Micah Stoltz arrived and found Parsons putting a paramedic in a choke hold on the side of the road. The suspect was straddling one paramedic while the other was trying to pull him off.Stoltz had to use his stun gun after repeated commands to let go of the paramedic.The paramedics were in good condition after the attack and scuffle.Parsons was later medically cleared at Florida Hospital DeLand before being transported to the Volusia County Jail. He remained held Monday afternoon on ,000 bail, charged with two felony counts of battery on an EMT. 1387
