SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County’s District Attorney Monday warned of price gouging amid the coronavirus. During a declared state of emergency, it’s illegal for a business to increase prices for essential goods or services by more than 10 percent. The only exception is if businesses can prove their own costs have increased. On March 4, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency throughout California. RELATED: Santa Clara County announces first coronavirus deathThe San Diego County Board of Supervisors also extended a state of emergency for an additional 30 days on February 19. “We want county residents to know that we stand ready to protect their consumer rights under the law,” District Attorney Summer Stephan said. “We will strictly enforce violations related to price gouging.”Violations of the price gouging statute could face up to a year in prison and a fine of up to ,000. "We're going to go out when we get citizen complaints and provide them notice and explain to them what the law is," said Damon Mosler, Chief of the Economic Crimes Division for the DA's office. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are investigating reports of a person being shot in the Mount Hope area Friday.San Diego Police said they were investigating reports that a 27-year-old Hispanic man showed up to Scripps Mercy Hospital with gunshot wounds just before 2 p.m. The man was rushed into surgery for life-threatening injuries.Soon after, police responded to the scene of 41st and C streets to investigate the location of the reported shooting.SDPD said based on the evidence gathered, the victim was in an altercation with man when gunshots rang out. The suspect they are searching for is a Hispanic male adult, approximately 29-30 years old who fled the area in a green pickup truck. He was last seen wearing a blue and yellow hat and a green jersey.The vehicle was last seen fleeing southbound on 41st St.SDPD Gang Detectives are investigating the shooting. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diegans will soon have four new restaurants for dining along the San Diego Bay, as Mayor Kevin Faulconer joined Port of San Diego officials and The Brigantine Inc. for the ribbon cutting ceremony Monday for Portside Pier. Portside Pier is an over-the-water dining complex that has been years in the making. It will have four restaurants -- Brigantine on the Bay, Miguel's Cocina, Ketch Grill & Taps and Portside Coffee & Gelato. The dining complex replaced Anthony's Fish Grotto, a staple for 52 years along the bay. The dining complex is now owned by The Brigantine Inc. The restaurants are opening amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The design of the restaurants have plenty of outdoor space to seat about 500 people, with all social distancing guidelines in place. The complex has capacity for about 1,000 people, once pandemic restrictions are lifted. Portside Pier is the first of several projects along the waterfront, to improve and update the embarcadero. The coffee and gelato bar are already open. The other restaurants officially open on July 28. 1090

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Fire-Rescue crews rescued a paraglider who crashed into a dangerous Torrey Pines bluff Friday.SDFD crews arrived at the site of the crash at around 1 p.m. Sky10 footage showed the person clinging to the cliff, wrapped in the wreckage of a broken glider, just over a section of Blacks Beach.Lt. Rich Stropky says the man was in training to become a paragliding pilot.
