CHONGQING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- A delegation led by Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) chairman Chiang Pin-kung will arrive at Chongqing on Monday for the fifth round of talks with the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS).The talks will be held on Tuesday, with the much-anticipated Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) and an agreement on intellectual property protection likely to be signed.Chiang told a news conference in Taipei Sunday that the signing of ECFA would profoundly influence Taiwan's economy, particularly in trade and investment, as well as the development of relations between Taiwan and the mainland.He said he expected a positive change of Taiwan's economic development mode after the signing of ECFA.The two sides will hold a vice-chairman level preparatory discussion on Monday afternoon.After the talks, Wang Yi, head of the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, will meet the SEF negotiators on Tuesday.Bo Xilai, secretary of the Chongqing municipal committee of the Communist Party of China, will also meet the representatives from the two sides on Wednesday morning.The SEF delegation is scheduled to leave Chongqing on Wednesday afternoon.Since June 2008, when regular talks between the SEF and ARATS were restarted, the two sides had held four rounds of talks respectively in Beijing, Taipei, Nanjing and Taichung.The talks brought about several agreements regarding among other things: mainlanders visiting Taiwan, cross-Strait shipping, air transportation, cooperation in fighting against crime and mutual legal assistance.

He spoke of Zimbabwe's defence forces as a "good friend and partner" of People's Liberation Army (PLA).Since the establishment of China-Zimbabwe diplomatic ties 30 years ago, cooperation between the two nations had continuously deepened in the areas of politics, economics and trade, culture, education and health, Liang said.China expressed appreciation for Zimbabwe's firm adherence to the one-China policy and its support to China's peaceful reunification, said Liang. He also thanked Zimbabwe for support on issues concerning China's core and major interests.Chiwenga expressed appreciation for China's long-standing support to Zimbabwe in various areas. GUANLING, Guizhou, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu Tuesday urged local government to use all resources to rescue victims of a landslide in southwest China's Guizhou Province.Rescuers should save the lives of the victims and treat the wounded using all possible means, said Hui during an inspection tour of the disaster-hit area from late Monday to Tuesday.He also called for the utmost efforts to properly resettle people affected by the landslide and sounded caution regarding additional landslides.He said all areas prone to landslides should be examined closely and nearby residents must be evacuated immediately upon any sign of an impending landslide.Further, information about the disaster relief efforts should be made public in a timely, objective, open and transparent manner, said Hui.The landslide occurred at 2:30 p.m. on Monday in Dazhai Village, Gangwu Township of Guanling County, burying 107 people from 38 families. Rescuers said their chances of survival were slim.

BEIJING, Aug.6 (Xinhua)-- China's Ministry of Finance announced Friday it will float a batch of 273-day book-entry treasury bonds worth 10 billion yuan (1.48 billion U.S. dollars) next week.A statement on the ministry's website said the bonds will be sold at 98.62 yuan per bill, with an annual yield of 1.88 percent.The bill will be sold to the public from Aug. 9 to 11, and become tradable in the exchange markets since Aug. 13, according to the statement.The interest is to be calculated on August 9.This is the 10th batch of its kind launched by the ministry this year.
