HUDSON, Ohio — A Hudson woman who hosted a large house party at a rental home in October was convicted in Municipal Court Tuesday for violating state health orders to prevent the spread of coronavirus.The woman was convicted of violations prohibited and criminal damaging, both second-degree misdemeanors, according to court records.On Oct. 10, the woman used a website to rent a home in the 6800 block of Windsor Road in Hudson, according to court records. More than 150 people attended the party, in excess of the number of people allowed by the mass gatherings order that limits groups to no more than 10 people.Attendees caused more than ,500 in damage to the property, according to court records.The Akron Beacon Journal reported that on the night of the party, police were called to the scene and multiple vehicles were towed throughout the night. IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. — A suspected drunk driver nearly hit several beach-goers Sunday before his SUV ended up in the ocean.The driver, identified as 50-year-old Jorge Mosti, was driving in the 1600 block of Seacoast Dr. just after 6:30 p.m. local time when witnesses say his SUV left the roadway and went onto the beach, according to San Diego Sheriff's Department.As he continued onto the beach, SDSO said Mosti nearly hit several people as he drove about a mile down the beach. His vehicle came eventually came to a stop when it partially submerged in the ocean.Mosti reportedly then jumped out of the vehicle and started walking toward Tijuana, Mexico. He made it about half a mile before deputies caught up to him. Deputies said Mosti was holding an open beer can as they took him into custody.Imperial Beach Lifeguards also responded to help pull the SUV from the water.Witnesses at the beach identified Mosti in a curbside lineup, SDSO said. He was arrested on charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. 1078

If the asteroid does get too close for comfort, the geniuses at NASA have hatched a plan.NASA says they could send a nine-ton “bulk impactor” to push the asteroid out of Earth’s orbit. The plan is called HAMMER, which stands for (deep breath) Hypervelocity Asteroid Mitigation Mission for Emergency Response.Though the odds are slim that the massive asteroid will hit Earth, in 1908, what is believed to be an asteroid crashed in Siberia with force 185 times as powerful as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.The impact flattened 80 million trees and killed hundreds of reindeer. Scientists say Bennu isn’t all bad.The asteroid is giving scientists a chance to test theories. In a joint status update filed in federal court, Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team claimed that former Trump campaign head Paul Manafort had lied to investigators after promising to cooperate with Mueller as part of a plea agreement. On Sept. 14, Manafort pleaded guilty on charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States and witness tampering. Manafort has remained in prison awaiting sentencing. Part of the update reads: "The plea agreement provides that if the defendant fails to fulfill completely “each and every one” of his obligations under this agreement, or “engages in any criminal activity prior to sentencing,” the defendant will be in breach of the agreement. A breach relieves the government of any obligations it has under the agreement, including its agreement to a reduction in the Sentencing Guidelines for acceptance of responsibility, but leaves intact all the obligations of the defendant as well as his guilty pleas."Manafort's counsel disputed the FBI's claims. The report states, "After signing the plea agreement, Manafort met with the government on numerous occasions and answered the government’s questions. Manafort has provided information to the government in an effort to live up to his cooperation obligations. He believes he has provided truthful information and does not agree with the government’s characterization or that he has breached the agreement.
