The Commission on Presidential Debates announced that they've officially canceled the Oct. 15 debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.In a press release, the commission stated that since both candidates made different arrangements for Oct. 15, the commission will focus on the third and final presidential debate, which is slated for Oct. 22."Subject to health security considerations, and in accordance with all required testing, masking, social distancing, and other protocols, the debate will take place at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee," the commission said in the press release.The move to a virtual debate was as a precaution since Trump tested positive for COVID-19 last week.Trump was airlifted to Walter Reed Medical Center last Friday and then discharged from Walter Reed on Monday.According to the Associated Press, The White House has been mum about releasing any information as to when the president last tested negative for the virus.Trump told Fox Business that he would not "waste his time" with a virtual debate.CNN reported that because of Trump backing out and Biden agreeing to do a town hall with ABC, the commission didn't see the Oct. 15 debate likely happening.NPR reported that another reason behind the cancelation was because the Trump campaign and the commission couldn't agree on safety protocols.The Oct. 22 debate will be divided into six 15-minute segments. The caravan of Central American migrants going through Mexico to the US border isn't ending. Instead, its participants will disperse into smaller groups after reaching Mexico City.While some will stay in Mexico to try to get refugee status there, others will continue north to the US border.Organizers of the caravan estimate that some 200 or so people will proceed all the way to the US border in the coming days, although the number could be higher. Vanessa Guillen, an Army soldier who was allegedly killed by a fellow soldier and his girlfriend, met with President Donald Trump on Thursday.Guillen's family began the day with a morning march on the National Mall in support of a military-focus sexual harassment bill bearing her name. "We didn't want this to be swept under the rug."Guillen was last seen on April 22 at Fort Hood, Texas, where she had been stationed. On June 30, Guillen's dismembered remains were found on the banks of a nearby river.Hours later, a suspect in the case, Spc. Aaron Robinson died by suicide during a standoff with police. Robinson's girlfriend, Cecily Ann Aguilar, was later charged with assisting in hiding Guillen's body. Aguilar has pleaded not guilty.Guillen's family maintains that she had been sexually harassed by Robinson and others prior to her disappearance. They claim she did not report the abuse to her superior officers because she feared retribution.While an investigation into sexual harassment against Guillen remains open, the Army has not yet confirmed the family's claims. According to ABC News, the Army has confirmed that Guillen may have been harassed, but it was not of a sexual nature.The bill for which Guillen's family was marching, the #IAmVanessaGuillen Bill, would allow military members to file harassment claims with third-party agencies instead of within their chain of command."We will not accept anything less than justice for Vanessa," Attorney Natalie Khawam said, according to KPRC-TV in Houston.
