(KGTV) — California officials announced Thursday the state's REAL ID identification is now in line with federal requirements.Last December, the Department of Homeland Security notified state officials that requirements for the new identification and drivers license needed to be stricter.Now, those applying for the card will need to show one proof of identity, original or certified; one proof of Social Security Number; and two proofs of California residency. A complete list of acceptable documents is available online here.Those who have already received a REAL ID license or card will receive a letter in the mail asking them to confirm their address and must mail the form back to the DMV. This will count for their second form of identification.RELATED: San Diego DMV customer has warning about websitePreviously, the state only required one proof of residency and counted the post office's delivery of the ID as the second form, placing it at odds with federal requirements.Beginning on Oct. 1, 2020, the REAL ID drivers license or ID will be needed for airline passengers traveling domestically or accessing federal facilities or military bases. However, airline passengers will still be able to show a passport to travel within the U.S. as well.Residents are encouraged to schedule appointments to apply for a REAL ID and fill out the necessary paperwork (available online) before visiting DMV offices.So far, the state estimates about 4.1 million REAL ID drivers licenses and cards have been issued. 1518

(KGTV) -- A woman traveling with her daughter was arrested after Border Patrol agents found nearly 30 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in her car.The arrest and seizure occurred July 21 during a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 5 in San Clemente, Customs and Border Protection officials said.According to CBP officials, an agent patrolling the area stopped a 2003 Honda Accord and asked the 38-year-old female driver for permission to search the car.After obtaining permission, the agent’s K-9 was alerted to something, prompting an in-depth inspection. The agent then found 28 bundles of meth inside the Accord’s gas tank.CBP officials said the bundles, weighing a total of 28.88 pounds, all tested positive for methamphetamine. The drugs were turned over to the DEA, and Border Patrol agents seized the car.Agents arrested the woman, a U.S. citizen; her six-year-old daughter was placed with child protective services. 933

(KGTV and CNN) - Newly released video from a passenger shows the moments before and after strong winds led to the crash of an Aeromexico plane in northern Mexico.Flight 2431 had just left Durango, Mexico for Mexico City on Tuesday when it took a nose dive.Video shows the plane fall before flames erupt outside the window. The plane skidded off the runway at the Guadalupe Victoria International Airport until it stopped about 300 meters away, according to Durango’s governor.RELATED: A plane crashed in Mexico but everyone on board survived99 passengers and four crew members were on board including Ashley Garcia, who recorded the video. Everyone evacuated the plane using its emergency evacuation slides before flames engulfed the aircraft, officials said. Although 49 people were hospitalized, no one died.Anabel Estrada -- a passenger from Joliet, Illinois -- felt like the aircraft had been battling against the heavy rain and wind before it hit the ground twice during the crash."The second impact was a lot stronger. This is when I jumped and hit my head against the ceiling," Estrada said. (KGTV) — Disney officials say the company's California parks are prepared to reopen as soon as the state gives guidance for theme parks to open their doors.During a roundtable discussion with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday, Disney World’s chief operating officer Jim MacPhee said the California theme parks are "ready to roll" once they are given the chance to reopen.“Disneyland has been ready to roll since July awaiting guidance from the state's governor on what the reopening protocols will be,” said MacPhee.RELATED: SeaWorld San Diego prepares to reopen with Zoo Days eventOfficials from Universal Studios who were also at the roundtable echoed the same preparedness."We're awaiting our park in Hollywood, as with Disney and SeaWorld, with respect to the state of California and the governor and when we'll be able to reopen. Disneyland, California Adventure, and Universal Studios have all been shuttered since March due to the pandemic.
