SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man accused of sexually assaulting women at knife-point across San Diego will face trial.On Tuesday, Judge Maureen F. Hallahan bound over eight felony counts against 19-year-old Seth Roberts.Three of his alleged victims gave testimony on Tuesday, describing their encounters with him.The first was an 18-year-old woman who said she had dated Roberts for about two months last year. They had been living in Oklahoma but both decided to hitchhike to California in October. RELATED: Former pro skateboarder convicted of rape and murder granted paroleThe woman, whose name was not released, said they stayed in Los Angeles for a week before coming down to San Diego where they were staying in a tent at a campground.She told the judge Roberts forcibly raped her one morning, holding her hands above her head.“I was telling him it was wrong, saying it was rape,” she said.After, she said Roberts left to go to work and she called a Lyft car which drove her all the way to Arizona where she called police and reported the alleged rape.The second victim said she met Roberts while walking near the beach in Pacific Beach in November of 2018.“He seemed like a very nice person,” she said through an interpreter.RELATED: Police searching for additional victims in sex assault caseThe woman said she is from Brazil but had been living in Washington, DC working as an au pair for a family.She traveled with them to San Diego for vacation and bumped into Roberts on her day off.She said he began making small talk and told her his roommate had a Brazilian girlfriend. He convinced her to walk with him towards his apartment to meet her.But she said before they made it there, he directed her to an area on the side of a home and pulled out a knife.She told the court that Roberts put his hand down her pants and inserted his finger into her anus while holding a knife to her throat.“I thought of my family. I thought of my dreams, how much I wanted to come here,” she said. “I could have never imagined this would happen to me.”A third woman also testified, saying Roberts raped her in her home at knife-point after she refused his advances.Roberts is being held on ,000,000 bail. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A new report from the California Association of Realtors shows how much San Diegans need to make to buy a home. According to the report, you'll need to make well over 0,000 to qualify for a home loan. 6,270 to be exact. And that's the minimum qualification. The report also places the median home price in San Diego County at 0,000, ,000 above a report from April which indicated San Diego homes had a median price of 0,000. In the state of California, the median home price is more than 8,000, meaning that, on average, you'll need to make 1,500 statewide to pay for a home. What does the housing market look like in the rest of the U.S.? According to data from the association, the median home price in the rest of the country is a modest 5,500. You'd have to make ,820 to qualify for a loan of that size. So why is the California housing market so expensive? There are a lot of reasons, but in a report from the Sacramento Bee, Brian Uhler of the non-partisan California Legislative Analyst's Office gives one reason. Uhler says many places in California are great places to live, so, in an effort to protect the status quo, residents in those communities turn to lawmakers to create barriers to building new housing.Uhler added that California's coastal cities are, as far as housing construction, among the slowest growing in the U.S., comparing their growth to shrinking Rust Belt cities.  1505

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man who was attempting to paint graffiti on a downtown building fell to his death Friday morning in East Village. The incident was reported about 8:30 a.m. on 15th Street near Broadway, across from San Diego Police Headquarters. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A plan to improve bike access along Harbor Drive may put pedestrians at risk.As SANDAG works to promote alternative transportation through its "Keep San Diego Moving" initiative, they plan to upgrade the Bayshore Bikeway.That includes a stretch through Barrio Logan that runs along Harbor Drive from 32nd Street to Park Boulevard.Renderings from SANDAG show a two-way bike lane protected from traffic by concrete or plants.But, plans to build the bike lanes also call for the removal of two pedestrian bridges that go over the intersection of Harbor Drive and 32nd Street. SANDAG will replace the bridges with crosswalks.Navy personnel use the bridges as they go to and from Naval Base San Diego every day.Some people who use the bridge daily say they're worried that it will lead to more accidents and dangerous conditions while trying to cross. Others say it could lead to more people jaywalking along Harbor Drive.SANDAG told 10News that safety is their top concern, and the new crosswalks will "enhance the entire intersection, including adding pedestrian pushbuttons, striped crosswalks, median landings, and other safety features."SANDAG also says they're working with the Navy and other city organizations to make sure the crosswalks are as safe as the bridges. A spokesperson for the Navy was unable to provide a comment about the project.Right now, the project is in the environmental review phase. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A recently transformed motel in the Egger Highlands community is now housing homeless families during the pandemic.The city started plans to transform a former Super 8 motel into transitional housing to help people in a drug and alcohol diversion program, called S.M.A.R.T.However, the city officials say the pandemic created a more significant need to house homeless families. The Convention Center was turned into a temporary shelter during the pandemic, housing individuals from the city's bridge shelters. However, the environment was not appropriate for families, said Ashley Bailey, press secretary for Mayor Kevin Faulconer."The transitional housing facility here on Palm Avenue was finishing construction in May, so we identified it as a potential area to expand and offer more space for families," Bailey said. "Having this facility gives families and children a place to come in, be safe, be sanitary, and get connected to services so they can get on to a better life."Erikssa Martinez recently moved into the facility with her husband and three kids."It's set up like a big hotel room, its really nice, my kids are happy to be here," she said.Martinez says the Alpha Project helped get into the facility. They had been homeless since December and had been staying with relatives, or in motels. She says she and her husband have slept in their cars on some nights, after dropping off their kids with family members."We've been looking forward to is having some kind of stability, where we're not stuck in our car for hours waiting where we're going to have to a place to stay at," Martinez said.They also have access to more services, and Martinez hopes that her will be able to get into permanent housing soon.The city plans to still use the transformed motel as transitional housing for S.M.A.R.T. when the property is no longer needed to shelter homeless families during the pandemic. 1924
