SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - For the first time since his arrest, the La Jolla restaurant owner charged with rape is speaking publicly. Daniel Dorado is testifying in his defense.Eight women have come forward saying Dorado drugged and sexually assaulted them over the course of a decade. The owner of the Voce del Mar restaurant in Birdrock faces 35 felony charges for allegedly raping women after drugging their drinks. "She was interested in being alone with me," said Dorado. "She initiated the physical contact."Prosecutors say in at least two of the cases, a sexual relationship occurred after the women got visibly sick and threw up. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Five people who witnessed a potentially deadly situation were honored by the California Highway Patrol Friday to taking action that helped save a man's life.Dennis McNea is a driver for the Freeway Service Patrol. His job is to help stranded motorists. But Nov. 13, 2019, he was driving on State Route 94 when he suffered a medical emergency. "Almost hit me," said witness Gina de la Torre, a Navy sailor who was on her way home at the time. "And as I saw him, he was hitting the highway barrier and I noticed that he was slumped over in his car."RELATED: Community helps man devoted to keeping park cleanAnother witness, Alberto Robles, used his own truck to make contact with McNea's, slowing them both down to a stop. The other four, including de la Torre, stopped to help. "They just kind of stopped and looked at me like, 'What do we do?'" she told 10News. "So that's when I was like, okay, keep calm and just do whatever you have to do."They performed CPR until medics arrived. "I don't remember what happened to me at all," McNea said. "I woke up in the hospital a couple of days later. "A million thanks is not enough. They gave me a lottery ticket. They gave me life. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Family and supporters of Jonathan Coronel stood at the San Diego County Administration Center Friday, demanding justice for the past three years without their loved one.Coronel was shot 16 times by San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Villanueva in Vista July of 2017."It has been three years of trauma and dehumanization," Coronel's Cousin Rocio Zamora said.Zamora urged defunding the Sheriff's Department, and transferring that money to underserved communities, "to transform them to community empowerment zones. The safest communities don't have the most cops they have the most resources."She also demanded police officers be taken out of schools and replaced with counselors.These demands shouted at a time when law enforcement is under the microscope.Law enforcement said Coronel was a documented gang member with a warrant.The morning Coronel died law enforcement said he ran from deputies. Once Villanueva caught up to Coronel, law enforcement said Coronel concealed his hand in his shirt, forcing Villanueva to fire.A witness said Coronel took off his shirt to show he was unarmed.Law enforcement confirmed Coronel was unarmed at the time of his death."Deputy Christopher Villanueva is the most dangerous gang member in Vista. He is the one who shot Sergio Weick 28 plus times," Zamora said.Sergio Weick, 33, was shot and killed August of 2016 by Villanueva.Law enforcement said he was running from deputies, had knives, and threatened deputies, forcing Villanueva to shoot. Law enforcement said he was also a documented gang member with a warrant.Back on the steps of the county administration building, Zamora said they are not anywhere near ending their fight for justice, "three years and we are only growing bigger, we are only getting louder." 1787

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — FBI investigators are searching for a woman wanted in two grocery store bank robberies.The woman, described as a Caucasian blonde in her 20s standing about 5-feet 6-inches tall, is believed to be behind two heists in La Mesa and Rolando areas this month.On Sept. 12, investigators say the woman walked into a US Bank inside the Vons grocery store at 6155 El Cajon Blvd. just before 3 p.m. She presented a demand note to the teller and fled with an unknown amount of cash. Instead, they sleep on couches, with siblings, or even the floor.When 13-year-old Lilia Montiel learned about the problem, she wanted to help fix it. Montiel's dad is a speech and language pathologist who works at several schools, including Empower Charter School. While working there one day, he learned his student had suffered rat bites due to sleeping on the floor.“That really struck a chord in my heart and made me really sad," remembers Lilia.
