A Las Vegas police officer "accidentally" fired his gun in the Mandalay Bay suite where mass shooter Stephen Paddock fired into a crowd at a music festival on Oct. 1.This is according to the sheriff for Las Vegas. He said the officer was not shooting at anything and it did not happen in the same area where Paddock's body was discovered.The sheriff also said that the 32nd floor where the suite is located did not have security cameras facing the gunman's suite or the stairwell.The sheriff spoke to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.In the shooting, 58 people were killed and hundreds more were injured. A man used electronic purchase alerts from his bank on a credit card he never received, to track down an alleged crook within hours.In the early morning hours of June 21, Josh Blair noticed an alert on his Apple watch confirming a purchase he made at a nearby gas station.But Blair told KSBY he didn't spend at the gas station and, in fact, Blair said he never even received the new American Express card in the mail the purchase was made on.He decided to find out who was using his new credit card around Santa Barbara.Surveillance footage from Blair's apartment complex shows a man unlock the mailbox and withdraw the envelope containing Blair's credit card.After speaking with officials at the post office, Blair said he learned the key to the boxes was lost and the lock had not yet been replaced.Throughout the morning, a series of charges hit Blair's account, all within miles of his home. So after filing a police report, he decided to track the crook himself."I talked to a friend earlier and he said 'OK, be careful.' And I said 'I guarantee I catch him within 24 hours,'" Blair recounted. "It was actually two hours from that time, I remember. I didn't spend much time thinking about what would happen."Throughout the afternoon, Blair raced from business to business as charges appeared on his card, each time, just missing the thief.Then, Blair got a charge alert from the newly opened hotel and restaurant, so he rushed over and spoke to the bartender."He was like 'yea, I'm sure that guy was just here, he just left the bar. I believe he's staying here, let me go check,'" Blair recalled. "He did that then came back and said the guy just ran out in the parking lot. He told me where, so I ran after him and so did the bartender, he helped me out. That's where we caught up with him and basically apprehended him."Blair said he and the bartender held the man until police arrived.Police arrested the man and Blair said police told him there is an arrest warrant for the suspect in nearby Los Angeles County.This story originally reported by Aja Goare on KSBY.co

A fraternity headed to trial Monday for the hazing death of a pledge in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.Attorneys gave their opening statements in Monroe County in the trial of Pi Delta Psi fraternity. It's the actual Greek organization on trial for third-degree murder, not the members themselves.The Pi Delta Psi organization is on trial for the hazing death of Chun "Michael" Deng.The 18-year-old student at Baruch College in New York was killed during a hazing ritual at a home that members of the fraternity had rented in Coolbaugh Township back in 2013.Authorities charged 37 members of the fraternity in the incident.Four pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and are expected to be sentenced next month.In court Monday, the prosecution recounted what happened to Chun "Michael" Deng back in December of 2013.
