SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's Department says deputies arrested a wanted man on Sunday who was openly carrying a loaded rifle in the East County.Lakeside deputies were called after witnesses reported a man walking around with a loaded M4 rifle around his chest, according to the department. Deputies responded and took the man and his weapon into custody. SDSO said the man was a wanted parolee and that he had a felony warrant stemming from a case involving an assault with a deadly weapon.It is also illegal for a convicted felon to be in possession of a firearm in California, the department added.The parolee's identity was not released. 658

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Six people were arrested at a Pacific Beach DUI checkpoint Friday night, according to San Diego Police.The checkpoint was held on the 2700 block of Garnet Avenue between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.According to the department, nearly 1,350 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, 845 were screened, seven drivers evaluated, and six arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.“Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public,” the department said. 619

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Southcrest neighbors banned together to file a lawsuit against the City of San Diego, claiming a city park was not designed to properly drain and therefore floods the neighborhood each time it rains.Last December was the breaking point for neighbors near Southcrest Trails Park, at S. 37th Street and a dirt road behind houses situated on Beta Street. They say feet of water flooded into their homes."This actually becomes a sinkhole, this area," said Greg Montoya, who is leading the charge with his hefty binder full of decades of documentation of the problem. Montoya has pictures of his white pickup truck sunken rims-deep into his yard due to saturation.The lawsuit describes it as "a 66-acre, 1.2-mile corridor in the Southcrest neighborhood of San Diego to construct Highway 252, which would connect Interstate 805 and lnterstates 5 and 15."The project never materialized, Montoya says, because St. Jude, thinking of the school, put up a fight."So then the City of San Diego put dirt berms in to keep people from driving back here, to keep people from throwing trash back here, because it became a dump," Montoya said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego State University has extended its stay-at-home order for on-campus students until Sept. 14 at 9 a.m., university officials announced on Monday.SDSU said they have seen "significantly reduced activity" in the College Area over the Labor Day weekend thanks to the current order. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Several people were hospitalized after they reportedly fell ill at a Sorrento Valley pharmaceutical company.San Diego Fire-Rescue crews were called to 6769 Mesa Ridge just before 2 p.m. Tuesday to reports that a 60-year-old man was passed out outside the business, Inovio Pharmaceuticals.Bystanders reportedly began CPR and used a defibrillator on the man.Crews say that additional people were transported after falling ill. In all, two people transported themselves to Scripps Memorial Hospital while two others were transported by emergency crews.Their conditions are not known at this time.SDFD said they believe the victims became sick after eating food brought in by an employee.  727
