A day after indicating a formal NFL request for information on an alleged physical assault involving star running back Kareem Hunt didn't occur until last week, Cleveland police said Wednesday the league was given a copy of the police report in February.The report did not go through the official public records request process, police said on their website. Instead, a member of the Cleveland Division of Police gave the report to an NFL representative.On Tuesday, police had said the league didn't make a formal request for records or body camera video until Friday.The NFL, which was harshly criticized for its handling and investigation of an assault in 2014 by former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, countered that it began looking into the February 10 incident involving Hunt days after it occurred.An NFL spokesman said Tuesday the league had requested information in February from the police and from the hotel where the event occurred.Hotel surveillance video posted Friday by TMZ shows the now-free agent kicking and shoving a woman in a late-night altercation outside a Cleveland hotel. The same day the video was posted, the Kansas City Chiefs waived Hunt, who led the NFL in rushing last season, and the league placed him on the commissioner's exempt list, meaning he cannot participate in any football activities until the NFL investigation is complete.Police didn't file charges in the case."In these instances, the victim is referred to the city prosecutor to file a misdemeanor charge," police said.Hunt admitted to ESPN in an interview aired Sunday that he acted inappropriately in February."Honestly, I never met the girl before besides that one time," he recalled. "It was just a disagreement, and I honestly wanted her just to leave. A Chinese lunar capsule returned to Earth on Thursday with the first fresh rock samples from the moon in more than 40 years, offering the possibility of new insights into the history of the solar system and marking a new landmark for China’s rapidly advancing space program.The capsule of the Chang’e 5 probe landed just before 2 a.m. (1800 GMT Wednesday) in the Siziwang district of the Inner Mongolia region, the China National Space Administration reported.The capsule had earlier separated from its orbiter module and performed a bounce off Earth’s atmosphere to reduce its speed before passing through and floating to the ground on parachutes. Following recovery, the capsule and its cargo of samples were flown to the space program’s campus in Beijing to begin the process of disassembly and analysis, the space administration said.The mission achieved new firsts for the lunar exploration program in collecting samples, launching a vehicle from the moon’s surface and docking it with the capsule to return the samples to Earth, the administration said.“As our nation’s mostly complex and technically groundbreaking space mission, Chang’e 5 has achieved multiple technical breakthroughs ... and represents a landmark achievement,” it said.Two of the Chang’e 5’s four modules set down on the moon on Dec. 1 and collected about 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) of samples by scooping them from the surface and drilling 2 meters (about 6 feet) into the moon’s crust. A body found in Costa Rica has been identified as a Florida woman who went missing while she was on vacation, according to her family. The father and brother of Carla Stefaniak identified the body as the 36-year-old Tuesday night.During an exclusive interview with ABC Action News, Stefaniak's father, Carlos, said his heart shattered when he saw her body.Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) said an autopsy performed on her body showed that she had stab wounds around the neck and extremities and blunt-force trauma to the head.Family friend, Greg Zwolinsky, who is with them in Costa Rica, said he wants everyone to remember Stefaniak based on the radiance of her personality that is portrayed in pictures of her smiling.On Monday, a spokesperson for the OIJ confirmed that remains were found. The body was found in a wooded area as investigators combed through the region, roughly 1,000 feet away from where Miami resident and Tampa native, Carla Stefaniak, spent what was supposed to be her final night in Costa Rica last week, Judicial Investigator Director Walter Espinoza said in a press conference. On Monday night around 11 p.m., OIJ officials detained a security guard at the apartment complex, 32-year-old Bismarck Espinoza Martínez. Martínez has been in Costa Rica since June 2018.After Stefaniak was reported missing, agents began to investigate where she was last seen. Officials say that Martínez had the time and space to commit this crime and became a suspect because of the investigation. Specifically, his statements did not match video surveillance in and around the area at that time.In addition, fluids found in the apartment where Stefaniak was staying have the consistency of blood, OIJ officials said.Stefaniak traveled to Costa Rica to celebrate her 36th birthday, according to the family. She left for Costa Rica on Thanksgiving Day but had not been heard from since Tuesday, her brother, Carlos Caicedo, told ABC Action News.Meanwhile, the lawyer representing the complex that houses the Airbnb told ABC Action News they were "deeply saddened and devastated by the tragic events that occurred last week" and said that the owners were cooperating with authorities. He said the rental had been temporarily closed while officials conduct the investigation. The lawyer released the following statement:"Since 2013, Villa Le Mas has operated a small vacation rental facility located at San Antonio, Escazu, Costa Rica. We have received over a thousand guests with wonderful reviews about the property and our service.We are deeply saddened and devastated by the tragic events that occurred last week. A Glendale, Arizona mother is speaking out after her daughter’s class was subject to an odd punishment. Brittany Trofy says her 7-year-old daughter and classmates were forced to walk in a circle on the Luke Elementary School playground last week as punishment. It was around noon that day and temperatures were likely in the high 90’s or even warmer.Trofy claims the march lasted anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. She says her daughter told her about the punishment when she came home that day.According to Trofy’s daughter, several kids complained of headaches and cramps. "The school stripped me of my right to nurture my child when she didn't feel good by not letting me know she didn't feel good,” Trofy said. The Dysart Unified School District confirmed to KNXV that they are reviewing the teacher’s actions that day. We’re told that the practice is not “district approved.” However, a spokesperson says it only lasted around five minutes. Students were checked by a school nurse and none displayed any signs of heat exhaustion. The Dysart Unified School District would not elaborate if the teacher would be facing punishment or has a history of questionable decision making. A spokesperson told us they cannot discuss personnel matters. "My daughter is right now scared to go back to school for fear of seeing the teacher that got frustrated with them,” Trofy said. A police officer was informed of the incident.
