BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top advisory body, will conclude its annual session Thursday morning.     Jia Qinglin, chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, is to deliver a speech at the closing ceremony.     The China National Radio, China Radio International and China Central Television will live broadcast the event.     The country's major news websites, including www.xinhuanet.com run by the Xinhua News Agency, www.people.com.cn run by the People's Daily and www.china.com.cn run by the China International Publishing Group will cover the closing ceremony to be held in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.     The annual session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee started on March 3. During the session, political advisors deliberated the work report of the Standing Committee of the 11th CPPCC National Committee and a report on how the suggestions and proposals from CPPCC members were handled since the last session.     They also attended the the Second Session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) as nonvoting delegates. They heard and discussed the government work report and other reports. 

BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Public Security announced a national action against human trafficking of women and children here Thursday, in wake of increasing incidences of these cases in China.     "The country has seen an increasing incidence of human trafficking of women and children recently, though the police have continued fighting such crimes for years," said Zhang Xinfeng, vice minister of public security at a meeting.     The nationwide crackdown will last from April to December this year, he said.     Police must carefully investigate residents to identify women and children victims and rescue them, he said.     They were also asked to collect information about possible victims and tightly follow leads, he said.     The police will also crack down upon those who seduce or force children to beg on streets or commit crimes, especially those masterminding such gangs, he added.

BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- China Friday called on the international community to "act cautiously" on the Darfur issue as it is afraid rash action could damage peace and stability in Sudan.     "The involved parties should fully respect and listen carefully to the voices of the African Union (AU), the Arab League and African and Arabian countries," Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said in his meeting with visiting Sudanese president's envoy Awad Ahmed al-Jaz in Beijing.     "The international community should further promote the deployment of the UN/AU hybrid operation in Darfur", Xi said.     Xi called on the international community to help advance the political process, to ensure the Doha-mediated dialogue will achieve substantive progress and facilitate the smooth progress ofthe humanitarian aid in the Darfur region.     Under joint mediation of the United Nations (UN) and the AU, as well as the sponsorship of Qatar, the Sudanese government and rebel Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) signed in Doha last month a goodwill agreement to pave the way for resumption of peace negotiations.     During the meeting, Xi also highlighted the growth of relations between China and Sudan since the two forged diplomatic relations 50 years ago. Xi noted China would regard the 50th anniversary as an opportunity to push traditional friendly relations to a higher level.     Echoing Xi's views, al-Jaz said that Sudan expected to continue to cement bilateral friendly cooperation with China in various fields and would firmly support China on the issues of Taiwan and Tibet.     He said the Sudanese government would never recognize the arrest warrant against President al-Bashir but still remained committed to working with the UN and AU and take effective measures to improve the humanitarian situation in Darfur and coordinate with the implementation of the UN/AU hybrid operation in the region.

BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam is ready to make joint efforts with China to advance the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership, a senior Vietnamese official said here Monday. Pham Quang Nghi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), made the remarks during his talks with Liu Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).     Liu said the two parties had increased exchanges on theory and practice of socialist construction since the two top leaders reached an important consensus on the development of Sino-Vietnamese relations last year. BEIJING, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Lhasa is stable, and troops there are in normal state, said Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the Tibet regional government, on Tuesday.     "I was told in a phone talk with Lhasa in the noon that the whole city is stable and troops are in normal state as usual," he said in Beijing after a plenary meeting of the National People's Congress.     He told Xinhua that he absolutely agrees with President Hu Jintao's remarks on Monday when Hu called for a "Great Wall of stability in Tibet."     "It (Hu's call) is a good and long-term consideration," said Qiangba Puncog.     On March 10, 1959, an armed rebellion was staged by the upper ruling class in Tibet in an attempt to preserve the old serfdom. The rebellion was quickly foiled by the People's Liberation Army, and the central government then decided to begin a democratic reform which put an end to serfdom and the theocratic regime.     Qiangba Puncog said that the ** Lama and his secessionists clique have kept on smearing the central government and the Tibetan regional government over the past 50 years, but time and facts would prove what they said are nothing but purely lies.     "They always lie that more than 1 million Tibetans had been killed in the past 50 years, but the truth is that the population in Tibet increased from 1.2 million in 1959 to 2.87 million in 2008," he said, adding Tibetans and people from other ethnic minorities now account for more than 95 percent of the population in the autonomous region.     "The fabrication of the so-called 'genocide' in Tibet has become a stock-in-trade for them to cheat the world," he said.
