SAN YSIDRO (KGTV) - Two people were critically injured in a car crash Sunday night after a driver sped through the Port of Entry. The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. on Dairy Mart Road near Interstate 5. According to police, a driver in a Chevrolet Silverado drove through the port of entry without stopping before crashing head-on into a Mitsubishi Lancer. One person was in the truck and another in the car at the time of the crash. Both were critically injured. The California Highway Patrol later confirmed to 10News that the driver of the truck is suspected of driving under the influence. 604

SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) - A local woman says her heart stopped when she saw what someone nearly sat on at a popular trail in Santee.Angie Haake was just beginning her usual dog walk last Thursday morning near the entrance of Walker Preserve Trail, when she noticed two upset women on the phone talking to deputies.  Haake asked them what was going on and they showed her a razor blade on the bench."I was shocked when it saw it. Obviously whoever put it there wanted someone to sit down and slice the back of their thighs. It's cruel and hateful," said Haake.The discovery was not the first.  Another trail goer tells 10news about three weeks ago, she found a similar blade near another bench.  In November 2016, 10news spoke with a mother at Mast Park in Santee, who found dozens of tacks placed sharp-side up underneath leaves.10news reached out to deputies to find out how many reports of similar cases there have been on the trail, but have yet to hear back. 983

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Saudi government recruited two Twitter employees to get personal account information of their critics, prosecutors said Wednesday.A complaint unsealed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco detailed a coordinated effort by Saudi government officials to recruit employees at the social media giant to look up the private data of thousands of Twitter accounts.The accounts included those of a popular critic of the government with more than 1 million followers and a news personality.It also alleged that the employees — whose jobs did not require access to Twitter users' private information — were rewarded with a designer watch and tens of thousands of dollars funneled into secret bank accounts. They were charged with acting as agents of Saudi Arabia without registering with the U.S. government.The Saudi government had no immediate comment through its embassy in Washington.Twitter acknowledged that it cooperated in the investigation and said in a statement that it restricts access to sensitive account information "to a limited group of trained and vetted employees.""We understand the incredible risks faced by many who use Twitter to share their perspectives with the world and to hold those in power accountable," the statement said. SANTA ANA (CNS) - A Colorado man was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of killing an 11-year-old girl in Newport Beach in 1973, with authorities saying DNA technology helped them track down the suspect.James Alan Neal, 72, was arrested around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in connection with the death of Linda Ann O'Keefe, who lived in Corona del Mar, Newport Beach police Chief Jon Lewis said.The girl disappeared while walking home from summer school on July 6, 1973, and her strangled body was recovered the following morning in a ditch in the Back Bay area. Police said the girl was last seen standing near a man in a blue or turquoise van.Lewis credited ``the latest in DNA technology'' for helping crack the case that has stymied investigators for more than four decades.``We have never forgotten Linda or the tragic events of July 1973,'' Lewis said at a news conference announcing the arrest. He said the girl's death changed the community, making parents think twice about letting their children outside alone.Neal has been charged with murder and District Attorney Todd Spitzer said the suspect could potentially face a death sentence, although there is some question about whether capital punishment could be applied in the case given the date of the killing and the laws that were on the books at the time.Newport Beach police last July mounted a Twitter campaign releasing information about the killing to try to spur new leads.The tweets detailing the last hours of Linda's life included photographs from the crime scene and a newly created ``snapshot'' of the suspect that was put together by scientists at Parabon NanoLabs.
