SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man who neighbors say was acting erratically in the Middletown neighborhood on Sunday was pronounced dead shortly after police arrived and found him lying in the street.San Diego Police officers received numerous calls regarding a man screaming, vandalizing a vehicle, and stripping his clothes off at Columbia Street near Sassafras St. just after 12:30 p.m. Police said officers arrived and were directed to the man, who was lying down in the street. Officers placed the man in handcuffs but noticed he was in medical distress. They took the handcuffs off the man and began CPR, police say. A witness who was a doctor also helped perform CPR until San Diego Fire-Rescue arrived, but the man died at the scene, according to SDPD.The man was not identified by name, but police said he was a black male in his mid-thirties.SDPD homicide detectives are investigating the death out of "an abundance of caution," police said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego gym owner said he is keeping his doors open despite state restrictions on indoor operations that took effect early Wednesday morning.For Shawn Gilbert, the owner of Boulevard Fitness in University Heights, keeping his business open is a matter of survival."I took a huge financial hit in May. Money out of my pocket that's never coming back. We have bills to pay, we have rent to pay,” Gilbert told ABC 10News.Gilbert said he believes his gym can operate safely with face covering and social distancing guidelines because it is a large, open space with high ceilings. The gym also has an outdoor space that Gilbert plans to also utilize.According to Gilbert, none of his gym members or employees have tested positive for coronavirus.Gilbert told ABC 10News he’s prepared for any possible citations for staying open."We have a lawyer with six other gyms, all representing us gym owners. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent accused of pointing a gun at a man in East County was charged Tuesday.Investigators said Agent Ed Zuchelli waved the gun at a young man who was riding a dirt bike in Lake Murray on February 16.Zuchelli is also accused of driving drunk. San Diego Police confirm he was in a government-issued vehicle at the time of the arrest. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man died following a shooting in downtown San Diego Thursday evening, police said.The shooting was reported just after 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of 5th Avenue and E Street in the Gaslamp Quarter, according to San Diego police.According to police, an altercation broke out between a man and his companion and a third man. Police said during the altercation, the third man produced a handgun and shot one of the men in the upper torso. The suspected shooter and the victim's companion both fled the scene.The victim was rushed to UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment, but he later died from his injuries. Police identified him as a 22-year-old Hispanic male.While the victim's companion was found a short distance away, police are still searching for the gunman. The suspected shooter was described as a Black male with braided hair, between 20-40 years of age, and wearing a bandana or rag over his face. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and running on eastbound E Street.Police are interviewing witnesses and viewing surveillance video footage from area businesses as part of the investigation. 1141
