BOSTON (AP) — Prosecutors dropped a case Wednesday accusing Kevin Spacey of groping a young man at a resort island bar in 2016, more than a week after the accuser refused to testify about a missing cellphone the defense says contains information that supports the actor's claims of innocence.Spacey was charged with indecent assault and battery last year in the only criminal case that has been brought against the actor since his career collapsed amid a slew of sexual misconduct allegations. But when he was pressed by the defense about whether he knew that altering evidence is a crime, he invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, and the judge said his testimony would be stricken from the record.The judge then questioned how prosecutors would be able to bring Spacey to trial if the accuser continued to refuse to testify, and prosecutors told the judge they needed time to decide how to proceed.On Wednesday, Cape and Island District Attorney Michael O'Keefe said in court documents that they were dropping the charge "due to an unavailability of the complaining witness."The hearing at which the accuser testified came days after the man abruptly dropped a lawsuit he had just recently filed against the actor that sought damages for "severe and permanent mental distress and emotional injuries." BUFFALO, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Health is looking into allegations that a former administrator at Emerald South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Buffalo, New York molested a patient.A health department spokesperson tells WKBW the department is aware of claims that the assistant director of nursing was fired after being caught touching a resident inappropriately. In a separate incident, the same administrator allegedly bit a resident. "We are aware of these allegations and we are investigating. (KGTV) -- A new study released this July says ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are actually contributing to heavier traffic. The study, conducted by Schaller?Consulting, found that ride-sharing companies compete mainly with public transportation, walking and biking. So instead of taking a bus or train, customers use services that put more vehicles on the road.The study found that even services like UberPOOL and Lyft Shared Rides, while claiming to reduce traffic, still add mileage to city streets and do not offset the impacts of UberX and Lyft.The shared rides add to traffic because, according to the study, users are switching from non-auto modes of travel like biking.According to the data, the metropolitan areas of Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C. are home to 70 percent of Uber and Lyft trips. It’s not all bad news though. BEIRUT — A huge fire has broken out at the Port of Beirut, triggering panic among residents a month after a massive explosion. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire at the facility which was decimated by the Aug. 4 explosion when nearly 3,000 tons of ammonium nitrates detonated. A column of black smoke billowed from the port with orange flames leaping from the ground.
