SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It’s approaching one year since a San Diego Navy Sailor was hurt in an explosion while on deployment, leaving him paralyzed.Saturday, community members rallied together to support wounded sailor, Kenton Stacy, on his journey to recovery. Hundreds of people gathered in Liberty Station for the Stacy Strong 5k.“We feel very blessed,” says Kenton Stacy’s wife, Lindsey. “All the love and support we’ve seen over the last year just has been amazing.”The event had live music, a silent auction, and awards for race winners. During this time last year, the Navy EOD tech was deployed in Afghanistan when an IED exploded while he was clearing out a hospital. The explosion left him paralyzed from the neck down.“It’s definitely been a very hard year… There’s been highs, there’s been lows,” says Lindsey Stacy. Her husband has not made it home from the hospital just yet but, today he was transported and joined family and friends at the event.“I just think he feels so blessed," she added.The funds for the event will go to the EOD warrior foundation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Military officials have confirmed to 10News that the man suspected of gunning down more than two dozen people at a Texas church Sunday served 12 months in San Diego in 2014. Devin Patrick Kelley, 26, is accused of killing 26 people and wounding 20 others at a Texas church on Sunday. Authorities said he was wearing tactical gear and a black mask with a white skull face.RELATED: Texas shooter was charged with animal crueltyKelley was a member of the Air Force, serving at Holloman AFB from 2010 until his discharge in 2014. In 2012, Kelley was court-martialed for two counts of assault on his then-wife and their child, the Air Force confirmed. He was sentenced to 12 months of confinement and a rank reduction. He and his wife divorced that year."Kelley was convicted by a general court-martial on two charges of domestic assault against his wife and step-son under Article 128 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He then served 12-months in confinement at Naval Consolidated Brig Miramar in California before being released with a Bad Conduct Discharge in 2014. He was also reduced in grade to E-1.
