SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The son of a San Diego murder victim made a plea Friday for the public to help find his father’s killer.Salvador Hernandez, 26, was shot and killed February 16, 2008, in Oak Park.He and a woman were sitting in a parked car on Seifert St. near Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 3:30 a.m. when a pickup truck pulled alongside their car and someone inside opened fire.The woman recovered from her bullet wounds but Hernandez died, San Diego Police said.During a news conference outside police headquarters, family and friends, including Hernandez's mother, sister and 12-year-old son Angel spoke about their loss. "Please if anyone has any information, I'm begging you, I never knew him," sobbed Angel, before turning to his grandmother for comfort.  San Diego County Crime Stoppers, 888-580-8477, and the San Diego Police Homicide Unit, 619-531-2293, are requesting public tips with more information to find the killer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego City Council voted 6-3 Monday on an option for regulating marijuana use in San Diego, now that it is legal.Council members chose between two options. The first would have allowed testing of marijuana and marijuana products in labs in industrial and commercial zones that prohibit residential use.The second option, which passed, will allow testing plus cultivation, distribution and production of marijuana with a permit.  The activities will be allowed in light and heavy industrial zones.San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman urged the council to enforce option one with the strictest of controls.  The Chief cited the 11 current dispensaries as a public safety concern."We've fielded 273 radio calls from those establishments so far this year, everything from violent robberies to a shooting and those calls will increase," Zimmerman said. 911

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The United States Postal Service is handling nearly 16 billion deliveries this holiday season, a record number.Warren Burton, a program manager at the USPS, says it is a 12 percent increase from last year.“There’s a lot of online shopping,” he said, “a lot more than last year.” As a result, the USPS processing and distribution center at Carmel Mountain Ranch in San Diego added more seasonal workers. About 1,100 people are working around the clock up from the normal staffing of close to 900.“We gear up all year for this time of the year, we know it’s going to be non-stop, high volume-high demand,” Burton added.The White House declared Christmas Eve a federal holiday this year, but Burton says that USPS will remain open on Christmas Eve.“We greatly appreciate the gesture, but we’re going to keep working so we can keep the mail going,” Burton said.He says Dec. 20 is the last day to mail out a package or holiday card to make sure it is delivered by Christmas Day using regular shipping. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The wife of Cal Fire San Diego fire engineer Cory Iverson spoke to 10News about her life following her husband's death while he battled the Thomas Fire last year.Cory Iverson died December 14th battling the Thomas Fire in Ventura County.  The 32-year-old fire apparatus engineer died after he getting caught in a swarm of spot fires in the Fillmore area.He leaves behind his wife Ashley, their 3 year old daughter Evie, and baby Taylor, due in May.Ashley Iverson described her life following her husband's death as the "most horrible and wonderful and terrible and amazing" experience she's ever endured."It's ceaseless," Iverson said of the outpouring of support following her husband's death.
