If you’re holding onto a Toys “R” Us gift card or store credit, you’ll want to use it very soon. The company recently announced its closing all of its stores, and told Scripps station WRTV in Indianapolis that customers have only until April 15, 2018 to use gift cards. However, it’s a good idea to use them as soon as possible, whether in-store or online, according to the Federal Trade Commission. If you do buy something, consider it a “final sale” and don’t plan on getting a refund if you buy something that doesn’t work.“Even if store credit is an option – you’d want to use that quickly too. If you have questions about refund and return policies, ask before you make any purchase,” said Colleen Tressler, FTC Consumer Education Specialist. “In addition, Toys"R"Us says its other customer programs, including Rewards dollars and Endless Earnings, are being honored for the next 30 days. The?news of the 735 store closures means shoppers can expect discounts as the retailer liquidates.Depending on the timeline, the sales could be modest at first. The biggest discounts will come later.Over nearly seven decades in business, Toys "R" Us has built up 1,600 stores around the world. About 880 of them are in the U.S. 1235
Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath have dumped trillions of gallons of rain across Texas and Louisiana over six days. Homes, office buildings and other structures along the Gulf Coast and in Houston's Harris County, were flooded, their occupants forced to find higher ground. To reach safety, most local residents waded through the murky streams, in some cases for hours.Scientists, including Lane Voorhies, a senior environmental scientist at A&B Labs in Houston, expressed concern about what this water might contain."The potential for contamination is everywhere," Voorhies told Elizabeth Cohen, CNN senior medical correspondent. In particular, he worried about the health effects among people who had spent time in the water, especially those who might have gotten cut while walking through the murky depths. People with underlying illnesses, pregnant women, the elderly and young children would also be more susceptible to illnesses resulting from contact with contaminated water. 997

I hope House Republicans will vote against the very weak National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which I will VETO. Must include a termination of Section 230 (for National Security purposes), preserve our National Monuments, & allow for 5G & troop reductions in foreign lands!— Donald J. I love a flyover but It was odd to see one over a mostly empty stadium but I am an unwavering patriot that loves this country, has always respected our flag, supported the men and women in the armed forces as well as those in uniform who serve & protect and for anyone to suggest— Troy Aikman (@TroyAikman) October 20, 2020 335
IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) — A new initiative between California and Mexico officials could pave the way for solving the persistent issue of sewage flowing from Tijuana to the U.S.The sewage comes as runoff from the Tijuana River or as flow from the Punta Bandera treatment plant, leading to beach closures in Imperial Beach and Coronado. On Friday, officials from California and Mexico met in Imperial Beach to launch the California-Mexico Strategic Dialogue. The inaugural issue is to find solutions to stop the sewage from flowing into the U.S."While other leaders may use the border as an opportunity to distract and divide, we want to use this as an opportunity to convene and advance," said State Assemblyman Todd Gloria, a Democrat. Officials are reporting progress. Tijuana Councilman Manny Rodriguez said he and others just requested 300 million pesos, or about million dollars, to improve processing tanks at Punta Bandera."We need to focus more on treatment, and if we get the money for that, I think this problem can be fixed," Rodriguez said. Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina said the International Boundary and Water Commission is installing an Earthen Dam in the Tijuana River channel to stop any accidental flows during the dry time of year. "That's a really good sign of little things that don't cost taxpayers any money that keep our beaches clean," Dedina said, adding that those kinds of short-term fixes should be a major part of the dialogue. 1480
