After three days of speeches from the Democratic Party's top brass, Thursday marks the convention's highlight — Joe Biden's acceptance speech for the party nomination.Biden will deliver his acceptance speech from his home state of Delaware — a speech he's been waiting to give for more than 30 years. Biden first ran for president in the 1988 cycle and ran again in 2008 — which eventually landed him the role of Vice President.While many national polls show Biden holding a double-digit lead over Trump, but Biden has mostly shied away from the spotlight during the general election cycle, preferring to hold virtual campaign events from his home amid the pandemic. Along with the nation’s top Democrats, several celebrities are expected to appear during the virtual Democratic National Convention this week.Party leaders announced Monday that Eva Longoria, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kerry Washington, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are among the stars who are set to speak during the convention.The DNC says Longoria, an actress known for her role on “Desperate Housewives,” will participate on Monday. The night’s theme is “We the People,” “bringing together many Americans who are rising up to unite our country and join Joe Biden in rebuilding the country and moving it forward.”Ellis Ross, an actress known from “Black-ish,” will participate Tuesday night with the theme “Leadership Matters,” “where the focus is on the leaders and the experts, the veterans and the activists, all those who seek to unite and not divide, and who step up—not back down—from a fight over what’s right.”Washington, an actress known for her role on “Scandal,” will participate Wednesday night, when viewers will hear from Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris. The night’s theme will be “A More Perfect Union.”Louis-Dryfus, known from "Seinfeld" and "Veep," will participate in the final night of the convention, highlighting “America’s Promise.” Programming will culminate in Joe Biden’s acceptance speech, when he will present his vision for uniting America to move the nation forward.Organizers announced the musical lineup last week. A Wisconsin man is accused of trying to buy a lethal dose of a radioactive substance on the Internet to try and kill someone. Justin Tolomeo, Special Agent in Charge of the Milwaukee Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a news release Jeremy Ryan, 30, of the Town of Madison has been charged with attempted possession of radioactive material with intent to cause death.Ryan allegedly attempted to buy the lethal dose in March and October of 2018. He was arrested on Tuesday. Ryan, who was dubbed “Segway Boy” faced multiple felony drug charges in 2016. He got the nickname after he was seen riding a Segway around the state capitol in 2011 taunting Republican lawmakers. He also attempted a congressional run against Paul Ryan in 2012. The attempted possession of radioactive material with intent to cause death charge carries a maximum term of life in prison. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Wisconsin’s Western District.  1010

A woman is accused of breaking into a Paradise Valley home, bathing in the homeowner’s bathtub, and sending tens of thousands of disturbing text messages to the man’s phone after the pair went on one date.In July 2017, 31-year-old Jacqueline Ades was found parked outside of the victim’s home, police said. The man also accused her of repeatedly texting him, despite him saying he no longer wanted to talk to her. Officers found Ades still outside the victim’s home when they arrived and told her to leave, officials said. Shortly after, the man started to receive threatening text messages from the suspect. Police received a similar report in December from the same residence, but officers were unable to locate her.On April 8, the victim called a detective a third time, saying he was out of the country, but saw Ades in his home while checking his home surveillance video. When officers arrived at the home, the woman was taking a bath, police said. A large butcher knife was discovered on the passenger’s seat of her car, court paperwork said. She was taken into custody and charged with trespassing.After Ades was released from jail, she allegedly started sending more threatening text messages to the victim — some of the messages alluded that “harm may come to him,” authorities said.Less than three weeks later, the victim called authorities to report receiving multiple threatening text messages from her, court documents said. The man also explained that they met on a dating website, and after one date Ades began stalking and harassing him.Ades allegedly sent about 65,000 text messages to the man’s phone. The victim said that she sent about 500 text messages to him a day, court documents said. In one of Ades' messages, she allegedly stated, “…Don’t ever try to leave me…I’ll kill you...I don't wanna be a murderer." She also said that she wanted to wear his body parts and bathe in his blood, court paperwork said.On May 4, police were called to a business in Scottsdale after passersby reported Ades "acting irrationally and claiming to be the owner's wife," police said. The owner of the business is the Paradise Valley homeowner.Ades was arrested on Tuesday on charges of threatening, stalking and harassment.While being questioned by police, the suspect explained that she sent the man text messages all day but he never responded, court documents said. She said that she threatened him because she was worried he had called police to report her behavior. The woman is also accused of admitting that she threatened him because she didn’t want him to leave and because she loved him, court paperwork said. She allegedly admitted to knowing her statements were “crazy” and plans to return to Florida once she's released. 2792
