WASHINGTON (AP) — A voter initiative led by Michelle Obama is partnering with a similar group founded by NBA star LeBron James and other prominent Black athletes and entertainers to sponsor events in major U.S. cities starting next week to generate excitement about voting early for the Nov. 3 election.Mrs. Obama’s When We All Vote and James’ More Than A Vote are teaming to provide information, transportation, food, music, personal protective equipment and other support at early voting sites around the country Oct. 18-31.“Millions of Americans have already cast their ballot and with only 21 days until Election Day. Making your plan to vote early is critical,” Mrs. Obama said Tuesday in a statement to The Associated Press. “It’s now up to us to do everything in our power to get our friends and family ready to vote early and safely together. We can’t leave anyone behind.”The former first lady is also launching a challenge to encourage more people to vote before Nov. 3. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) – A group of teenage girls attempted to set a trap for a 32-year-old man who tried to meet one of them for sex, according to San Diego County sheriff’s officials. According to sheriff’s officials, deputies responded to a reported kidnapping at 1385 East Vista Way in Vista around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. A group of juveniles told responding deputies they used a social media app to contact “an older man who was looking for underaged girls to have sex with. The group hoped to expose the male and turn over the information to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.” Sheriff’s officials said the group made contact with Robert Dreyfus on the app and exchanged text messages. A meeting location was established at a shopping center at 1385 East Vista Way. Officials said that “Dreyfus arrived and convinced the 17-year-old victim to get into his vehicle to talk,” but he then drove away with the girl without consent. According to officials, the girl was able to message her friends for help, and they contacted authorities. Deputies made contact with Dreyfus, and he stopped his vehicle near the 2000 block of East Vista Way. The girl got out of his vehicle and was not hurt, officials said. Dreyfus was arrested by responding deputies and booked into Vista jail on suspicion of kidnapping, sending harmful matter to a minor and communication with a minor for specific offenses. Video shows a woman being severely injured after she pursued a man who snatched her purse at a McDonald's restaurant in Okeechobee.The incident happened Thursday at about 8:30 p.m.Police say the suspect entered the restaurant, approached the booth in which the elderly woman was sitting, reached over the backrest and grabbed her tan Coach purse. Surveillance video shows the woman chasing the man to his car. He backed out, knocking the woman to the ground and leaving the scene.The woman was injured and is currently hospitalized. Her condition is unknown. Authorities issued a "be on the lookout" for the suspect and his vehicle.Okeechobee police said tips from Facebook helped them identify the suspect, Charles Alton Stratton Jr., 50, of Okeechobee. 797

Walt Disney World is not reopening its Polynesian Village Resort until next summer."Due to ongoing refurbishments at the Great Ceremonial House, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will remain closed until summer 2021," the company said on the resort's website. "The monorail service to this resort will be temporarily suspended beginning in early October 2020."The Beach Club Resort and BoardWalk Inn will remain closed "until further notice," the company added."Given the current situation, there are some Disney Resort hotels and other areas that are not, as of this time, being scheduled for reopening yet," the company said on its website. "We will continue to evaluate the situation and reopen more locations when the environment is right to do so."According to Yahoo! the resort's reopening had been pushed several times: in June, it was announced it would reopen on Aug. 12; in July, it was said it would reopen on Oct. 4.Disney's resorts closed in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
