It made me unhappy that that was happening," said London.So the budding artist picked up her canvas and paintbrush and expressed her support for the Black Lives Matter movement the best way she knows how -- by painting.Then she turned those paintings into t-shirt designs."A bunch of people were really happy that I started this movement with the t-shirts and everybody was buying them and buying them and buying them," said London.London's "Support Shirts" campaign was shared so much online that it blew up."At first, I only expected to sell like 15 shirts at the most. Harry Dean Stanton, the longtime character actor whose face had its own unique character, has died at 91, according to his agent, John S. Kelly.Stanton passed away Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.Stanton, whose gaunt, worn looks were more recognizable to many than his name, appeared in more than 100 films and 50 television shows, including the films "Alien" and "Repo Man" and the series "Big Love" and the recent version of "Twin Peaks."For many years, Stanton played lesser-billed characters. In 1984, he got his first part as a leading man in "Paris, Texas," which won a host of awards, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.The late film critic Roger Ebert wrote of the actor in 1989, "No movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad."Stanton often played haggard men with battered souls, Turner Classic Movies said in its description of him. HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - As coronavirus continues to rage across the country, scientists are inching closer to developing a COVID-19 vaccine.Dr. Doug Mitchell used to be a pediatric infectious diseases specialist at CHKD and EVMS. He is currently the medical director of CHKD Medical Group and a pediatrician at Norfolk Pediatrics.“If we’re able to stick to the science in developing the vaccine, then that would be comforting if we could stick to the science and develop an effective and safe vaccine,” said Mitchell.Mitchell said the speed at which researchers are developing a vaccine to combat COVID-19 is nothing short of a miracle, but sticking to the clinical science behind the advancement is key for an effective and safe vaccine - and that takes time.“The stated goal that I saw by the CDC and/or FDA of wanting a vaccine that shows at least 50% protection and six months of safety data, that takes time,” he said. “We need a chance to show the safety profile of any new vaccine under the parameters of following the best science that we could follow.”Mitchell understands the process involved in developing a vaccine.More than 20 years ago, he was an investigator in several pediatric clinical trials. HONOLULU (AP) — Hurricane Douglas is gathering strength as it heads west toward the Hawaiian Islands on a track to potentially bring strong winds and flash flooding to the island chain over the weekend. The storm is getting stronger Thursday, becoming a Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph.
